Southern California’s devastating fires have left nothing but ashes and memories for many, including some well-known Black celebrities.
The fires, which have rapidly spread across the Los Angeles area, have displaced over 80,000 people, including beloved figures who have long called this region home.
Many entertainment events and filmings were postponed as a result of the catastrophe, which as of Wednesday evening had claimed lives (officials say the current death toll is unknown) and was already being called the most destructive fire in the history of Los Angeles County, with more than 1,100 structures destroyed and 27,000 acres impacted so far, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Bozoma Saint John, a star from “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” shared the loss of her home on Instagram with a touching post. Accompanied by photos and videos of better times at her residence, she expressed her deep sense of loss:
“This was my EFF YOU I’m here house. This is the house where I finally felt like I could choose to spend time… when I wanted to and how I wanted to. It is gone. This is an unimaginable loss. I grieve with the rest of Los Angeles as it burns.”

Tina Knowles, mother of Beyoncé and Solange, also faced heartbreak as her Malibu bungalow was consumed by the flames. She took to Instagram to reflect on the tragedy, especially poignant as it occurred over her birthday weekend.

The family, including their four children, four dogs, and a pet bearded dragon, had to check into a hotel for safety. “We are ok as of right now, and I felt weird saying that with so many people we know and don’t know who are not ok,” Teigen shared.
