At the 67th Grammy Awards, Alicia Keys was honored with the 2025 Dr. Dre Global Impact Award by the Black Music Collective.
This award, established in 2023 and named after the iconic Dr. Dre, recognizes individuals who have shown exceptional artistic talent, innovative entrepreneurship, and a dedication to philanthropy that extends beyond music.
Alicia Keys, with a career that has reshaped contemporary R&B over the past two decades, has also leveraged her influence to support social justice and humanitarian efforts worldwide.
During the ceremony, presented by Queen Latifah, Keys was praised as “one of the most inspiring artists of our time.”
Dressed in a black gown adorned with gold and a sparkling headpiece, Keys addressed the audience, expressing gratitude and recognition for Dr. Dre’s influence on her career.
“Tonight is a beautiful, powerful thing that we are cultivating. I just want to give big love to my brother Dr. Dre, who created a sound that began a movement, and your sound told me that if you’re a creative growing up in Compton or Hell’s Kitchen, you can touch the world,” she said.
The evening also saw Keys thanking her fans, her team, her husband, Jay-Z, and female producers who have paved the way in the industry. She emphasized the challenges she has faced as a female in roles traditionally dominated by men, like songwriting and producing.
“It’s strange that we don’t think of women as producers like Quincy or Dre or Swizzy, but female producers have always powered the industry,” she noted, acknowledging influential figures like Patrice Rushen, Missy Elliott, Linda Perry, Grimes, Solange, and more.
Harvey Mason Jr., CEO of the Recording Academy, commended Keys in a press release, stating, “From her timeless music to her unwavering dedication to uplifting others, Alicia has made an indelible impact on the world.
She embodies everything the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award represents—her artistry knows no bounds, her advocacy inspires meaningful change, and her influence has profoundly shaped culture.”
The Recording Academy celebrated Keys for her enduring legacy and the transformative contributions she continues to make in music and beyond.
