Atlanta Woman Arrested for Alleged $60,000 Rental Scam Targeting Vulnerable Evicted Tenants

Angela Denise Hasan, a 44-year-old woman from Atlanta, is facing serious charges after allegedly defrauding nearly $60,000 from families in search of new homes following eviction.

Currently detained in the Clayton County Jail, Hasan stands accused of operating a fraudulent scheme through her business, “Hasan 2nd Chance,” which promised rental assistance and eviction record sealing to struggling renters.

According to a report by WSB-TV, Hasan’s business allegedly preyed on families in difficult circumstances, collecting a total of $59,000 from multiple victims. Clients were reportedly required to pay a “pledge” or fee in exchange for services, which Hasan claimed included clearing outstanding rent debt and securing new housing options.

Authorities state that Hasan often met clients on courthouse steps to reinforce the credibility of her promises, convincing them of the legitimacy of her services.

An investigation was launched by the Clayton County Police Department after several complaints revealed a pattern of deception involving Hasan’s “Hasan 2nd Chance” enterprise. Deputies obtained warrants, leading to Hasan’s arrest in Fayetteville.

Clayton County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson commented on the case, saying, “Hasan even met her victims on courthouse steps to seal the deal, convincing them that in exchange for a ‘pledge’ or fee, she’d wipe out rent arrears and secure them new homes. Unfortunately, the only thing disappearing was their hard-earned money, to the tune of over $59,000.”

The Sheriff’s Office issued a warning to the public, urging caution in similar situations. “If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Stay vigilant, and know that your Sheriff’s Office is here to protect you from scams like these.”

Hasan now faces seven counts of theft by deception. She appeared in court on October 26, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for December 2 in Clayton County Magistrate Court.

Officials are encouraging anyone who suspects they may have been victimized by Hasan or her business to reach out to the Clayton County Police Department at 770-477-3630.
