Bishop T.D. Jakes’ Inspiring Message Moments Before Health Scare

Share

Bishop T.D. Jakes, a celebrated American preacher and motivational speaker, experienced a medical emergency on Sunday while delivering a sermon at the Potter’s House, the megachurch he founded in 1996.

The 67-year-old pastor was in the middle of his sermon when the incident occurred, abruptly halting the service. A viral video captured the dramatic moment as Jakes lowered his microphone, appeared to spasm, and stared blankly while seated. Concerned church members quickly surrounded him, and another speaker urged the congregation to pray.

In a statement released later that day, the church confirmed that Jakes is in stable condition and receiving medical care.

“Bishop Jakes experienced a slight health incident and received immediate medical attention following his powerful hour-long message. He is stable and under the care of medical professionals,” the statement read.

The church also expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support from the community: “The entire Potter’s House family is grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support from the community.”

Jakes, who leads a congregation of more than 30,000 members, had been preaching passionately about the joys and spiritual fulfillment of ministry just moments before the unexpected health scare.

“I still love to preach. I ain’t tired of preaching. You think you’re giving out something, you’re getting back more than you gave,” he told the audience, reflecting on his enduring commitment to his calling.

The incident occurred as Jakes quoted a verse from Psalm 19:14: “Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, my redeemer, let them go in peace.” He then fell silent and appeared to show signs of distress.

Since the announcement of his stable condition, messages of support and prayers have flooded in from across the nation, reflecting the deep impact of Jakes’ decades-long ministry and leadership in the faith community.
