Brad Pitt's Formula One Film with Damson Idris to Release in June 2025

Apple’s upcoming Formula One movie starring Brad Pitt and Damson Idris now has a release date, with Warner Bros. handling the global release.

Directed by Joseph Kosinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, the movie features a star-studded cast including Kerry Condon, Javier Bardem, Tobias Menzies, Sarah Niles, Kim Bodnia, and Samson Kayo.

Brad Pitt will play a former race car driver returning to Formula 1, while Damson Idris, known for his role in Snowfall, will play his teammate at the fictional team APXGP. The film includes scenes shot during real F1 races for added realism.

Apple and Formula One released a joint statement Tuesday, confirming that the movie will be released internationally on June 25, 2025, and two days later on June 27, 2025, in North America.

The statement also provided more details, including information regarding F1’s involvement in the movie:

“The movie is a landmark for the sport and cinema, filmed in real-time during grands prix around the world and involving the Formula One community, including all 10 teams, the drivers, the FIA and race promoters.

“The new feature film is set in the exhilarating and cinematic world of Formula One and will immerse audiences in the spectacle of the most popular annual sports series, celebrating the skill and heroism of the drivers while showcasing the incredible challenge of competition in Formula One.”

The production team includes Kosinski, Bruckheimer, Chad Oman, Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner, and Jeremy Kleiner. Famous racing driver Lewis Hamilton is also producing through his company, Dawn Apollo Films.

The movie will hit IMAX theatres in North America on June 27, 2025. According to The Hollywood Reporter, “the movie landed at Apple under a deal that assured the film would receive a substantial theatrical release, with a window of at least 30 days, if not longer.

At the time of the deal, it was clear that a distribution partner would need to come on board for the film. Apple has done such partnerships in the recent past, most notably working with Paramount on the wide theatrical release of Killers of the Flower Moon, and Sony on Napoleon.”
