Caught in the Act: Suspect Arrested for Starting Devastating Kenneth Fire in LA

Los Angeles is facing huge fires, and one man might have started a big one called the Kenneth fire. This fire has already burned over 1,000 acres—that’s a lot of land!
The suspect, a homeless man in his 30s, was caught by people who live in the Woodland Hills area, right after the Kenneth fire started.
Elex Michaelson from Fox LA told everyone that the people who live there grabbed the man so he couldn’t run away. Officer Charles Dinsel from the Los Angeles Police said to NewsNation’s Brian Entin that this happened really fast, about half an hour after the fire started.
How the Neighbors Stopped the Suspect
A lady named Renata Grinshpun saw what happened and told KTLA news about it. She said, “We heard a car stop really fast, and a man shouted at the suspect to drop what he was holding.
It looked like something very dangerous.” Renata and some neighbors didn’t let him go until the police came to take him away. She felt good that everyone worked together to stop something bad from happening.
People on Instagram are talking a lot about how brave these neighbors were. One person, @la_heroes, wrote, “It’s awesome how everyone helped to stop something really bad from getting worse. #LAstrong.”
Everyone’s Working Hard Against the Fire
The fire is one of many in Los Angeles right now, because it’s very dry and windy. Lots of people had to leave their homes because it’s not safe. But firefighters are working super hard to stop the fires.
Governor Gavin Newsom thanked the firefighters on X (it used to be called Twitter). He said, “Thanks to our amazing firefighters, the #KennethFire is partly under control now.”
The police are still trying to find out more about the fire and if the man really started it. But for now, Los Angeles is sticking together, with everyone from firefighters to neighbors doing their best to help each other out.
