Chris Brown Fan Files Defamation Lawsuit After Being Labeled a “Stalker”

Chris Brown is facing a lawsuit from one of his most outspoken fans, Angela Reliford—known online as @chrisbrownzwife777—who claims the singer defamed her by portraying her as a “stalker” in front of millions.
The legal filing alleges that Brown’s actions led to “public humiliation, harassment, and lasting reputational damage,” In Touch reports.
Reliford, a self-described fan and content creator, has built an online persona dedicated to Brown. However, her posts over time have drawn concern—including bizarre claims that the R&B artist has been secretly communicating with her through his music videos.
In a now-viral Instagram post, she thanked Brown for what she believed were “signs” hidden in his visuals.
“I saw the synchronicities, the winks, the girls dressed like me… It felt like you were showing love in your own way,” she wrote, claiming the details in his videos were tailored as secret messages to her.
However, Reliford’s online activity took a darker turn. She reportedly shared videos making threats toward Brown and members of his dance crew—clips that Brown later reposted with concern.
“I’m not tryna be mean at all. But this sh*t is scary,” the singer wrote at the time, alongside a video of Reliford speaking aggressively.
In her lawsuit, Reliford maintains that the video Brown reposted was taken out of context. She claims it was a performance piece and that Brown edited it to include misleading captions, portraying her as a threat. She described herself as an actress, not a danger.
“Chris Brown tried to break me,” Reliford said in a recent statement. “Fueled by jealousy and insecurity, he twisted the truth and made me into something I’m not. But I’m not hiding anymore.”
She argues that calling her a stalker publicly—with no arrest record, police report, or restraining order to back the claim—amounts to defamation. According to the filing, she is seeking unspecified damages for the harm done to her reputation and mental wellbeing.
Reliford first met Brown during a meet-and-greet on his 11:11 tour in Canada. She later attended an after-party, where she claims tensions began—particularly with Brown’s lead dancer, Taylor Terry. In her version of events, she accused Terry of trying to “steal attention” and said she was eventually removed from the party by security after an alleged confrontation.
After the party, Reliford went live on Instagram and made several alarming comments, including threats toward Brown’s dancers and fantasizing about revenge. In one clip, she said, “If I gotta join a gang… I don’t care.” She also reportedly asked, “Where can I legally kill, because I’m coming for you,” prompting widespread concern and the eventual circulation of a mugshot online.
Reliford insists these statements were part of her performance art—and not actual threats. Still, the damage, she says, has been done.
“All the slander, the defamation, the manipulation—it’s only paved the way for the truth to rise,” she wrote. “A lawsuit is in motion, and soon the world will see who I truly am.”
Chris Brown has not issued a new public response regarding the lawsuit at the time of publication.
