Floyd Mayweather, a retired boxer who never lost a fight, donated $1 million to a group called United Hatzalah of Israel at a big event in Miami on Thursday, December 19. This money helped raise a total of $14 million for the group, which helps people in emergencies in Israel.
The event was very popular, with over 1,700 people attending. During the event, Floyd Mayweather spoke to the crowd about the importance of continuing to fight challenges every day, just like they do.
Floyd Mayweather has supported United Hatzalah before. He was even given an award by them for his help. In the past, he donated 100 bulletproof helmets and vests to keep the group’s volunteers safe.
He also spoke directly to Eli Beer, the person who started United Hatzalah, saying, “Eli, you and United Hatzalah are doing such a great job. I will be here until the casket drops, supporting you and standing behind you as long as there are people who need your help.”
Mayweather didn’t stop there. He also gave a diamond necklace shaped like the United Hatzalah logo to Dr. Miriam Adelson, who has been a big supporter of the group for a long time.
On December 8, before this event, Mayweather started something called the Mayweather Israel Initiative. This plan is to give birthday presents to Israeli orphans for the next year. He talked about this new project on his social media and announced it when he was at another event in Israel.
The Jerusalem Post reported that Mayweather has been involved in other charity work too. He supports an organization called Standing Together, which helps Israeli soldiers and their families by providing things like washing machines and vacations.
