Ice Cube Faces Criticism Over Message to Black Voters

Ice Cube, a founding member of N.W.A. and influential figure in music and film, is set to broaden his entertainment ventures through an extended partnership with Paramount Global. Cube Vision, Ice Cube’s entertainment company, has secured a first-look television deal with Paramount, enabling the development and executive production of projects for broadcast, cable, and streaming platforms across the Paramount network.

In a joint statement, Ice Cube, real name O’Shea Jackson, and Jeff Kwatinetz, COO of Cube Vision, expressed their enthusiasm: “We are excited to expand on our successful partnership with Paramount through this unique television deal.

This deal provides us with everything we need to bring amazing and authentic stories to television, working with the best writers, showrunners, and television innovators in the entire business. We are thrilled to collaborate with Nina, Chris, and the rest of the All-Star Paramount Global team to build upon the great work we’ve done together.”

The first project under this new deal is already in development at Showtime Studios. This unscripted series will delve into the cutthroat world of Hollywood, showcasing the experiences and perspectives of Black creators.

Nina L. Diaz, President of Content and CCO at Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios, praised Ice Cube’s enduring influence: “Ice Cube is a bona fide powerhouse whose enduring impact on music, film, TV, and sports resonates with generations of fans. It’s a privilege to build on our relationship with Cube Vision and continue to bring his trailblazing storytelling to audiences around the world.”

This announcement follows Ice Cube’s recent revelation to Flavor Flav about the progress of a fourth “Friday” movie. Despite numerous obstacles over the past 20 years, new developments at Warner Bros. suggest that audiences may soon see what Craig Jones, the character played by Ice Cube, and his crew have been up to.

The original “Friday” film debuted in 1995, with sequels “Next Friday” and “Friday After Next” released in 2000 and 2002, respectively. Fans of the series have eagerly awaited a continuation of the beloved franchise, and this new partnership with Paramount could signal its long-awaited return.
