Inside the Diddy Sex Trafficking Trial: Courtroom Sketches Offer a Rare Glimpse into High-Profile Proceedings

As Sean “Diddy” Combs faces federal charges related to sex trafficking, the courtroom remains off-limits to cameras—a restriction that has turned courtroom sketches into the public’s primary window into one of the year’s most high-profile trials.

Unlike other celebrity legal battles such as the O.J. Simpson case or Johnny Depp’s courtroom clash with Amber Heard, Diddy’s trial is unfolding in federal court, where media coverage is tightly regulated.

With no televised proceedings or photography allowed, all eyes are on the detailed illustrations coming out of Manhattan Federal Court, most of which are being produced by veteran courtroom artist Elizabeth Williams for the Associated Press.

Williams’ sketches have captured key moments in the trial’s early stages, including the music mogul’s quiet demeanor, his graying hair, and his reaction upon seeing his family, at one point forming a heart with his hands from the defense table.

One drawing shows his mother, Janice Combs, seated among other relatives, offering support as the proceedings begin.

The trial officially began on May 5, 2025, with jury selection and opening statements, and continued on May 12 and 13 with emotional testimony and key witnesses.

Among the most talked-about moments so far: Cassie Ventura, Combs’ former girlfriend, took the stand visibly pregnant and in tears, delivering powerful testimony about her experiences. Another witness, Daniel Philip, a former escort, also testified on the opening day.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Emily Johnson and defense attorney Teny Geragos both delivered opening statements as Diddy stood nearby, watching the jury intently. Other witnesses have included a security officer from Intercontinental Security and various others connected to the allegations.

The sketches not only capture the players involved but also hint at the weight of the testimonies and the emotional undercurrents in the courtroom.
