Investigating Possible Terror Attack After Tesla Cybertruck Explosion Outside Trump Hotel

Authorities are currently investigating a deadly explosion involving a Tesla Cybertruck outside a U.S. hotel owned by President-elect Donald Trump in Las Vegas as a potential act of terrorism.

The incident, which occurred on New Year’s Day, resulted in the death of the driver, who was inside the rented vehicle when it caught fire, and minor injuries to seven other individuals.

The explosion took place just outside Trump’s hotel, according to police and fire officials. Law enforcement sources informed NBC News, a partner of Sky News in the U.S., that the incident is being treated as a possible terror attack, although a definitive cause has not been confirmed.

Elon Musk, the owner of Tesla and a notable supporter of Trump, having donated millions to his 2024 campaign and served on his government efficiency team, was thanked by local authorities for his cooperation in the investigation. Musk provided crucial data from the vehicle and Tesla’s nationwide charging stations, which helped in the investigation.

At a news conference, Sheriff Kevin McMahill of Las Vegas Police indicated that the truck was rented in Colorado and had traveled directly to the Trump hotel in Las Vegas. The vehicle carried large fireworks or possibly a bomb, Musk later suggested on social media, emphasizing that the vehicle’s system showed no signs of malfunction at the time of the explosion.

The FBI is involved in the investigation, with agents seeking to determine the nature of the explosion, which occurred concurrently with another deadly incident in New Orleans, though officials stated the two events do not appear to be linked.

Further details will be provided as the investigation progresses, with authorities not ruling out any possibilities at this early stage of their inquiries.
