50 Cent is well-known for stirring controversy in hip-hop, he is also a sharp businessman. His recent business efforts have mostly involved creating popular TV shows with the Starz network, including “Power,” “Power Book II: Ghost,” “Power Book III: Raising Kanan,” “Power Book IV: Force,” and “BMF.”

His company, G-Unit Film & Television Inc. produces these shows, making him one of the top Black TV producers today.50 Cent isn’t just stopping there. He took a big step in April by opening his own G-Unit Film Studio in Shreveport, Louisiana.

His connection with Shreveport started in November 2023, when the local city council allowed his company to use the Millennium Movie Studio as their main base, as reported by KSLA.

Choosing Shreveport for his studio is part of a bigger plan to help the city grow. Recently, 50 Cent shared a detailed plan to invest in Shreveport that aims to boost the local economy, according to KTAL.

Gerod Durden, a real estate broker working with 50 Cent, told KTAL about the rapper’s dedication to the city.

“He really cares about Shreveport,” Durden said. “We’ve already bought several properties here, and there are plans for more, including a big recreational park and a grocery store in the downtown area.

These plans were made together with the whole team to help the community.”

Orville Hall, the Growth Advisor for G-Unit Film Studios, also talked about their plans to help families buy homes and start media programs in local high schools.

While some think 50 Cent might be trying to compete with Tyler Perry, 50 Cent himself says he’s just inspired by Perry.

In an interview with the Shreveport Times, he mentioned that his studio would resemble Perry’s in Atlanta. He has also defended Perry against critics, showing his respect for Perry’s work.

In the past, he’s even come to the defence of Perry. When fans joked that he’s the “male” Tyler Perry, the biggest troll in Hollywood didn’t take the bait. Instead, he responded with an Instagram post that read, “Tyler will f**k yall up he ain’t no sucker. Don’t get it f****d up now!”
