Karl Jordan Jr., the man convicted of murdering Run-DMC’s Jam Master Jay, was brutally attacked and stabbed 18 times during a violent gang clash at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center, officials confirmed.
Jordan, who was found guilty in February 2024 of the 2002 killing of the legendary DJ, suffered two collapsed lungs in the February 22 altercation. He was initially listed in serious condition but has since been downgraded to stable.
According to reports, the fight erupted between members of the Bloods and a Dominican gang known as the Trinitarios. Jordan was among five inmates injured, though his wounds were the most severe.
Federal prosecutors revealed on March 6 that 23 inmates have been charged in connection with various crimes inside the facility, including weapon smuggling and Jordan’s stabbing.
Six individuals are facing charges directly related to the attack.

Adding to the controversy, former podcaster Taxstone, currently incarcerated for the 2016 killing of rapper Troy Ave’s bodyguard Ronald McPhatter, was also arrested in connection with contraband smuggling.
Authorities allege he attempted to use a rope to bring illegal items into the prison last June. The Metropolitan Detention Center has come under scrutiny in recent years for mismanagement, security failures, and frequent violent incidents among inmates.
The latest attack underscores ongoing concerns over safety at the federal facility.
