Jay-Z Asks for Lawsuit to Be Dropped After Accuser Admits Story Has Errors

Jay-Z is seeking to dismiss a sexual assault lawsuit against him, following a report by NBC News that highlighted inconsistencies in the accuser’s account.

The lawsuit, originally filed in October in the Southern District of New York and later amended to include Jay-Z alongside Sean “Diddy” Combs, stems from allegations of an incident at a MTV Video Music Awards afterparty in 2000, when the accuser was just 13 years old.

The accuser, in an exclusive interview with NBC News, admitted to some inaccuracies in her recollection of events, including her claim that her father had picked her up from the party.

“I have made some mistakes,” expressed Jane Doe regarding her recollections. “You should always advocate for yourself and be a voice for yourself. You should never let what somebody else did ruin or run your life.

I just hope I can give others the strength to come forward like I came forward.”

Her father, however, does not recall such an event. This discrepancy has cast doubt on the validity of her allegations, prompting Jay-Z to call for the case’s dismissal.

Jay-Z, in a statement released through Roc Nation’s social media, criticized the motivations behind the lawsuit, accusing attorney Tony Buzbee of pursuing fame and financial gain through false allegations.

Jay-Z’s attorney, Alex Spiro, echoed this sentiment, labeling the lawsuit as frivolous and poorly investigated.

Despite these challenges, Buzbee continues to defend his client’s claims, noting her willingness to undergo a polygraph test and the intense personal distress she has suffered, which has led to medical issues.

The legal team vows to keep investigating the case to gather supporting evidence.

This legal battle unfolds against the backdrop of Jay-Z’s broader philanthropic efforts, including a $300 million scholarship initiative led by Roc Nation to support underprivileged students.
