Boston Celtics shooting guard Jaylen Brown is launching his own sneaker brand, 741, after turning down $50 million in endorsement deals from other sneaker companies. Brown wants to focus on creativity, independence, and ownership with this new venture.
“741 is more than just a sneaker brand — it’s a statement about independence, creativity, and ownership,” Jaylen Brown said in an interview with WSB-TV.
The number 741 is special to Brown, as the numbers 7, 4, and 1 have shown up often in his life. According to his PR team, they represent spiritual growth, hard work, and new beginnings.
This move marks a new phase in Brown’s career. He wants to create something lasting and meaningful. “Ownership and value are important for the next generation of athletes,” Brown said. “It’s time to think differently and bring new ideas. We need to create more value for athletes, consumers, employees, and the communities that support them.”

Through 741, Brown plans to offer athletes endorsement deals where they can have more say in the design of their sneakers. He also wants to create jobs for people from underserved communities and cut sneaker prices by 40% to make them more affordable for fans.
“I want 741 to be a brand that gives back and ensures kids from all backgrounds can afford shoes they love,” Brown said.
Brown was inspired by the late Kobe Bryant, who was planning to start his own sneaker brand before his death. “Kobe’s journey taught me to be fearless and push sports and society to new levels. That’s the attitude I’m bringing to 741,” Brown explained.
With this launch, Brown is not only entering the sneaker business but also looking to make a positive difference in the community.
