Jimmy Butler Sued for Unpaid Rent and Property Damage After Miami Exit

Golden State Warriors guard Jimmy Butler has turned his coffee side hustle into a legitimate business, officially opening the first BIGFACE café in Miami’s Design District in December 2024.

Jimmy Butler, who was recently traded from the Miami Heat to the Warriors, first came up with the idea for BIGFACE during the COVID-19 pandemic while competing in the NBA bubble in Orlando.

With limited activities outside of basketball, he began using his hotel room espresso machine to make coffee for fellow NBA players—charging them $20 per cup.

“Being in the bubble, all you had was hoop, hoop, and more hoop,” Butler told NBC News. “BIGFACE was just an experiment at the time. It was some coffee with a bunch of sugar in it. But when I left, I missed those days of making coffee and having conversations. So I thought, ‘Why can’t I do that every day?’”

BIGFACE’s Grand Opening

BIGFACE officially launched its first brick-and-mortar café on December 6, 2024, with a star-studded launch party attended by Carmelo Anthony, DJ Khaled, and Paul Pogba.

Butler has been deeply involved in the venture, personally travelling across South America to source premium coffee beans for the brand, which initially sold online before expanding into a physical storefront. He has even been spotted working behind the counter and interacting with customers.

“It’s so surreal because this is another thing I said I wanted to do, and I went out and made it happen,” Butler said. “That’s what this story is for me. I had a dream, I worked at it, and then one day—bam, here we are with a coffee shop.”

BIGFACE has quickly gained recognition, combining high-quality coffee with a premium brand experience. What started as a bubble experiment has now become a growing business, proving that Jimmy Butler’s hustle extends far beyond the basketball court.
