Joey Bada$$ Celebrates a Big Year for His Mentorship Program in New York City

Brooklyn rapper Joey Bada$$ recently celebrated the first successful year of his Impact MENtorship program with a big party in New York City. The event was held at Chef Kwame Onwuachi’s fancy restaurant, Tatiana, with support from Tres Generaciones Tequila.

This tequila company had also given Joey an award earlier this year for his positive impact.

The Impact MENtorship program, which started in October 2023, helps connect men of color with successful leaders in their fields. This mentorship aims to guide and inspire them toward their own success.

Joey, inspired by a similar program for women, hopes to grow this effort even more. He shared with BLACK ENTERPRISE, “It’s been an incredible first year. Starting this program has opened up so many new ideas and opportunities, even more than I thought it would at my age.”

Joey brought together a diverse group of friends and professionals, like rapper Cordae and NFL star Stefon Diggs, to help mentor these young men. He mentioned how this was a new experience for him, reaching out to his network to help others.

The program has been rewarding for both the mentors and the mentees. Joey explained, “I think the most rewarding part is that we’re preparing these young men for tomorrow. Every time I finish a mentoring session, I feel just as excited and energized as my mentee.”

Besides mentoring, Joey is also focusing on his own growth. He was recently named Artist Scholar in Residence at the Gordon Institute at Teachers College, Columbia University. He’s excited about the future, saying, “I hope that in 2030, we can look back and see the leaders of tomorrow who were helped by this program.”

During the celebration, guests enjoyed special drinks from Tres Generaciones and shared their positive experiences in the program. One mentee, Will, said it was an incredible chance to jumpstart his career, calling it a place “where chances make champions.”

The Impact MENtorship program is planning to continue next year, already preparing for the 2025 group of mentees. Joey Bada$$ is using his influence to make a real difference, helping to shape the next generation of leaders.
