Streamer Kai Cenat has set a new Twitch record, gaining an incredible 727,694 subscribers during a non-stop 30-day live stream.
This number, still awaiting official confirmation from Twitch, beats the previous record of 326,252 held by IronMouse and surpasses Kai’s own record from 2023.
Kai’s marathon stream, called “Mafiathon 2,” featured appearances from stars like Snoop Dogg, Serena Williams, and Bill Nye, keeping viewers entertained throughout the month.
On the second day, Snoop Dogg joined to talk about his new album and later gave viewers a virtual tour of his luxurious Los Angeles home, including a recording booth, basketball court, arcade room, and casino.
Tennis star Serena Williams also made a video call appearance, sharing her favorite fast foods and joking that her sister Venus is a better tennis coach because of her patience.
Science educator Bill Nye joined Kai Cenat in person, performing fun experiments for viewers, like showing how ice melts faster on metal than plastic.
What Is a Subathon?
The event, named after Kai’s fanbase, the “Kai Mafia,” was a subathon—a type of stream where creators aim to gain more subscribers by staying live for long periods.
Viewers subscribe to support their favorite streamers, with Twitch taking a portion of the money. Subscriptions in the UK start at £4.99.
Kai Cenat already has more than 15 million followers on Twitch and announced he would donate 20% of his earnings from the event to help build a school in Nigeria.
The stream wasn’t without issues. At one point, police interrupted the event after a fake emergency call was made to Kai’s home, forcing him to temporarily pause the stream.
Despite this, the 22-year-old’s Mafiathon 2 was a massive success, cementing his place as one of Twitch’s biggest stars and breaking records in the process.
