Kamala Harris Returns to “Where It All Began” After Presidential Election Loss

Vice President Kamala Harris is spending time with her family after losing the 2024 Presidential election. Her niece, Meena Harris, shared photos of Harris smiling and playing Connect Four with her two young great-nieces on Instagram.

In the casual photos, Kamala is wearing a Howard University hoodie and has her hair in a messy bun. “Back to where it all began only a few months ago,” Meena wrote in the caption. “My eternal gratitude to everyone who showed up. We love her so much.”

After her defeat to now-President-elect Donald Trump, Harris is using some campaign funds to support a recount. Newsweek reports that initial donations will go to the Democratic National Committee (DNC), with later funds directed toward the recount effort.  

The website details, “The first $41,300/$15,000 from a person/multicandidate committee (‘PAC’) will be allocated to the DNC. The next $3,300/$5,000 from a person/PAC will be allocated to Harris for President’s Recount Account.”

Kamala formally conceded to Trump last week after he won 50.3% of the popular vote and 312 Electoral College votes. The election also saw Republicans regaining control of the Senate.

Speaking at Howard University, Harris emphasized the importance of accepting election results. “A key principle of American democracy is that when we lose an election, we accept the results,” she said. “That principle, more than any other, separates democracy from monarchy or tyranny.”

She added, “Our loyalty is to the Constitution, not to any president or party.”

While Harris takes some time for family, her campaign team is moving forward with the recount effort to ensure fairness and transparency.
