Khalid Confirms He’s Gay After Being Outed by Ex-Partner

Singer Khalid recently confirmed he’s gay after being outed by his former partner, Hugo Almonte. The Grammy-nominated artist shared the news on social media, saying he’s proud of who he is and wants to move forward.

The situation began when Almonte posted a picture of himself with the singer on the platform X (formerly Twitter), claiming they had been in a romantic relationship. In response, Khalid posted a rainbow flag emoji and wrote, “Let’s get this straight (lmao).

I am not ashamed of my sexuality! In reality, it ain’t nobody’s business! But I am okay with me. Love y’all.”

The singer said he never hid his sexuality and was comfortable with himself. “I got outed, and the world still continues to turn,” he said, downplaying the drama and reassuring fans.

Almonte, however, accused Khalid of trying to silence him after their relationship ended. Speaking to Rolling Stone, he said, “I was holding onto this for five years, and I finally had enough.”

Many criticized Almonte for outing Khalid, saying it was unfair and disrespectful, especially since Khalid hadn’t publicly discussed his sexuality before. Khalid also faced some harsh comments online but responded with confidence, saying, “None of this will make me think I’m ugly.”

Khalid revealed that his 2022 song “Satellite” was written as an anthem for the LGBTQ+ community. In response to a fan who thanked him for his honesty, Khalid replied, “Thank you. I was never hiding.”

The singer, now 26, released his latest album Sincere earlier this year. He says he’s ready to move on from the situation and encourages others to do the same.
