Kodak Black Tells Kids to Stay Off Drugs: “You’ll Like Them and Go Crazy”

Kodak Black Responds to Donald Trump's Racist Comments About Haitians

Rapper Kodak Black recently issued a heartfelt plea to a Little League football team in Florida, urging the youth to avoid drugs. On Wednesday (Aug 7), XXL shared a video of the encounter, where Kodak Black, known for his hit “Super Gremlin,” spoke bluntly but honestly to the kids, seemingly drawing from his own experiences with substance abuse.

“Say no to drugs,” the rapper told the children. “They’re too good; y’all gonna like ’em and go crazy. Y’all gotta go to school, play football, and get an education… No one is bigger than the team.”

In the video, Kodak Black also gifted one of the players, RJ, his chain and draped a bandana on him, while the kid’s teammates and coaches cheered, likening him to NFL star Lamar Jackson.

Real Talk from Experience

While some may criticize Kodak Black for telling children to stay off drugs despite his own struggles, his history with substance abuse adds weight to his message. The rapper has been open about his battles with drug addiction.

During a show in Los Angeles in June, he spoke about his addiction to opioids, revealing that he once took “100 Percs a day” and regretted rapping about using fake Percocets in “Super Gremlin.”

“It’s sad, though, because that bar came to mind so quick,” he explained. “I don’t want to say this, but I know it’s gonna hit. But we ain’t gonna play like that. When I was at my worst, chewing on Percs, I wasn’t just popping them; I was chewing 100 Percs a day, averaging like 40.”

A Promise to Change

Kodak Black continued this candid conversation in July, posting a video on social media where he vowed never to perform “Super Gremlin” again, citing his regret over the song’s lyrics and his fear of sobriety when he recorded it. He now insists that he’s “sober for the most part.”

“I don’t want y’all to hear that and think it’s okay to do that,” he said, emphasizing his commitment to staying off drugs and encouraging others to do the same.

Kodak Black’s message to the youth football team, despite his past, serves as a powerful reminder of the dangers of drug abuse and the importance of making better choices.
