Legendary artist Lauryn Hill has hinted that her long-awaited third album is on the horizon. Speaking in New York City on Wednesday, May 15, Hill, accompanied by her son YG Marley, told TMZ that new music is coming “soon.”
This news marks a significant moment for Hill, whose debut album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, released over 25 years ago, remains iconic. Hill’s only other album, the MTV Unplugged album, came out in 2002.
During the conversation, Marley, who has been gaining traction in the music industry with his hit single “Praise Jah in the Moonlight,” also teased the possibility of featuring on his mother’s new album. He kept fans in suspense, saying they would have to “wait and see.”
Hill’s debut album was a monumental success, winning five Grammy Awards in 1999, including Album of the Year. It was the first hip-hop album to receive this accolade, and Hill, then 23, became the youngest Black artist to win the award.
Recently, Hill has been active on stage, supporting YG Marley, whom she shares with Rohan Marley, son of Bob Marley. YG Marley’s debut single has made impressive chart entries, including the Billboard Hot 100 and reaching the Top 10 in several countries.
The “Doo Wop (That Thing)” singer has been hitting the stage in recent months to support her son YG Marley, whom she welcomed in 2001 with Bob Marley’s son, Rohan Marley.
YG Marley has been heating up the music scene with his debut single, “Praise Jah in the Moonlight,” which entered the top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100 and reached the Top 10 in the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Norway, and Sweden.
Fans eagerly await Hill’s return to the studio, and with her son’s encouragement, the anticipation for her next album continues to build.
