Lauryn Hill Explains Fugees Reunion Tour Cancellation

Lauryn Hill addressed the sudden cancellation of the Fugees reunion tour on Instagram, just days before it was set to start. She assured fans that her European tour would continue as planned.

Hill shared in her Instagram stories, “We had to make the tough decision to cancel our upcoming North American tour dates.” The tour was supposed to start in Tampa, Florida, this Friday (Aug. 9). No reason for the cancellation has been given yet. Hill’s son, YG Marley, was supposed to open for the Fugees.

Hill expressed her sadness, saying, “Performing for my fans is a special exchange of energy and emotion that I love every time. Every show is part of my expression and our shared love for music. I’m more disappointed than anyone about not being able to perform.”

Variety reported that ticket holders were notified by Live Nation on Tuesday, Aug. 6, with a text message saying, “Your event has been canceled. A refund will be on its way to your account soon.” Last November, Hill had to postpone her tour due to a vocal injury, and fans received full refunds. About the Fugees tour, she wrote, “When these unforeseen circumstances are resolved, we’ll be back in full force.”

The Fugees reunion tour was planned to include 18 dates, with stops in cities like Atlanta, Dallas, Philadelphia, and the Hollywood Bowl. Despite the North American tour cancellation, Hill’s European tour for the 25th Anniversary of The Mis-Education of Lauryn Hill will start on Oct. 2 in Dublin, Ireland, and end on Oct. 22.

More details will be shared as they become available.
