Netflix Prepares to Launch Mike Tyson Docuseries

Netflix has announced a new three-part docuseries featuring Mike Tyson, set to explore the life and career of the youngest heavyweight boxing champion in history. This announcement comes just a month after Tyson’s widely discussed bout against former YouTuber Jake Paul, where Tyson, at 58, lost by unanimous decision to the 27-year-old Paul.
The series, which does not yet have a release date, will offer an in-depth look at Tyson’s rise to fame, his challenges inside and outside the ring, and his personal growth over the years. In a statement, Tyson expressed his enthusiasm for the project, noting that Netflix’s global platform offers the perfect opportunity to share his story authentically.
“Most people are too scared to look at their lives objectively, wanting to paint themselves as the hero of their own story,” Tyson said. “But if we are truly objective, we know we can never be the hero in our own story. We have to be able to face the man in the mirror, taking the good with the bad, to give a full account of our contributions in this life.”
Unlike a previous Hulu series titled “Mike,” which Tyson criticized for not being an official representation of his life, this Netflix project has his full support and involvement. It aims to present a balanced view of his successes and struggles.
The series may also touch on the controversy surrounding Tyson’s last fight, although there has been no official confirmation on whether the fight will be included. Speculation arose after the fight about Tyson’s performance, with some suggesting it was lacklustre and possibly fixed—claims that were strongly refuted by Most Valuable Promotions, which managed the event.
They emphasized that rigging a professional boxing match is a federal crime and assured that both fighters competed earnestly and without restrictions.
This forthcoming Netflix series promises to give viewers a comprehensive look at the complex figure of Mike Tyson, covering both his storied career in the ring and his life beyond it.
