Pharrell Williams Collaborates on NewJeans’ Japanese Debut Single ‘Supernatural’

ADOR revealed that Pharrell revisited his iconic ad-libs and bridge from his 2009 collaboration ‘Back of My Mind’ with Japanese singer Manami, reinterpreted in a New Jack Swing style by producer 250.

ADOR explained the song’s production: “Pharrell Williams revisited his iconic ad-libs and bridge from the 2009 collaboration ‘Back of My Mind’ with Japanese singer Manami, which producer 250 has reinterpreted in a New Jack Swing style.”

Pharrell Williams, renowned for his hit song ‘Happy’, is a multiple Grammy-winning artist and influential figure in music and fashion.

NewJeans’ Japanese debut single ‘Supernatural’ will be released on the 21st of next month. 

The single includes the title track, another song ‘Right Now’, and instrumental versions of both, totaling four tracks. ‘Right Now’ gained attention when it was partially released as a commercial song for Lotte ZERO.

NewJeans has previously announced collaborations with cultural icons such as Takashi Murakami and Hiroshi Fujiwara, setting high expectations for their debut in Japan. 

Their activities, including a fan meeting at the Tokyo Dome, have drawn significant attention.

Meanwhile, NewJeans is set to return to Korea on the 24th. Their music video for ‘Bubble Gum’, from the pre-released double single ‘How Sweet’, topped YouTube Korea’s weekly popular music video chart for two consecutive weeks and maintained a high position on global charts, showcasing their international impact even before the song’s official release.
