President Biden’s Election Campaign Paused Due to Covid-19

President Joe Biden’s campaign for the November election is facing new challenges as he pauses events due to a COVID-19 infection. Top Democrats, including Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, have reportedly met with Biden to discuss concerns about his re-election chances.
According to CNN, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has also told Biden privately that she doesn’t think he can beat Donald Trump in the election.
Biden’s re-election bid was already struggling after a poor debate performance against Trump last month. On Wednesday, Biden’s press secretary announced that the 81-year-old president tested positive for Covid-19 and has mild symptoms. He will isolate at his home in Delaware but continue his duties. This is the third time Biden has tested positive for Covid.
Earlier, Biden was in Las Vegas visiting supporters and giving a speech but had to cancel another event later in the day. This sudden change came just as Biden was trying to restart his campaign efforts after an attempt on Trump’s life paused his activities.
Biden was working to win back support from Hispanic voters in Las Vegas. He was seen moving slowly up the steps to Air Force One without a mask, saying, “Good, I feel good.”
Biden considers dropping out if doctors find serious health issues.
In recent weeks, more Democrats have called for Biden to step aside. Schumer and Jeffries told Biden they worry his candidacy could hurt their chances in Congress. The White House responded by saying Biden is committed to being the party’s nominee and winning the election.
Pelosi also told Biden that polls suggest his candidacy could harm the Democrats’ chances of winning the House. After their conversation, she asked a key adviser for data to support her concerns.
Publicly, around two dozen Democratic politicians, including Congressman Adam Schiff, have asked Biden to let another Democrat run. Schiff praised Biden’s presidency but said it’s time to pass the torch. In an interview with BET, Biden said he might consider dropping out if his doctors find a serious health issue.
After announcing his Covid-19 infection, Biden’s doctor reported mild symptoms and treatment with Paxlovid. Biden assured the public on social media that he will continue working while recovering.
In a tweet, Biden also expressed frustration with Elon Musk and other wealthy individuals, urging supporters to donate to his campaign.As Biden deals with these issues, his future in the election remains uncertain.
