Rapper Rich Homie Quan Dies at 34

Rich Homie Quan, the Atlanta rapper known for hits like “Type of Way,” has passed away at the age of 34. The news, which initially began as a rumor, was later confirmed by TMZ through verification from the rapper’s family and the Fulton County morgue. Family members revealed that Quan, whose real name was Dequantes Lamar, died at his home in Atlanta.

Malcolm “Champ” Heaggans, a screenwriter who had worked closely with Quan on several projects, also confirmed the rapper’s passing. He shared his grief on social media, saying, “RIP to my dog Quan. I just got word from the camp that the unfortunate news is true. I worked on a multitude of videos and short films with Quan early in my career… it was always love. Rest up Quan.”

Fellow rapper Boosie Badazz expressed his condolences and hinted at the cause of death, suggesting that Quan may have died from an overdose. He posted on Instagram, “JUST GOT WORD @RichHomieQuan JUST OD‼️… Never go forget yo smile n the way you talked n of course yo music. The rumors of Quan’s passing first surfaced on the ThuggerDaily Twitter page, where a private message from someone close to the rapper confirmed the tragic news.

Rich Homie Quan rose to fame in 2013 with his breakout hit “Type of Way” and was known for his collaborations with fellow rapper Young Thug. However, the two had a public falling out that was never resolved.

Most recently, Quan’s name was mentioned during Young Thug’s YSL RICO trial, when a witness claimed to have been involved in a shooting at his father’s barbershop. Quan strongly denied the allegations, calling the witness a “liar.”
