Rick Ross Urges Young Men to Consider Blue-Collar Jobs

Miami-based entrepreneur and rapper Rick Ross recently shifted his focus from his longstanding feud with 50 Cent to offer an empowering message to young Black men.
In a video shared online and reposted by The Shade Room, Ross emphasized the value of pursuing careers in blue-collar fields where he sees a lack of Black representation but significant financial opportunities.
During the clip, Ross began by reflecting on the frequent calls for the release of rappers like Lil Durk, who was recently arrested. He used this as a segue to urge young Black men to consider stable, lucrative careers in trades such as construction, plumbing, roofing, and electrical work rather than turning to the streets.
“All right now, for y’all young hustlers. Y’all got to learn how to do roofing, y’all got to learn how to lay marble floors, you got to learn how to do the plumbing. This is a multiple-million-dollar game,” Ross said. He noted the scarcity of Black workers in these profitable sectors during his visits to real estate sites.
Ross concluded his message with a poignant reminder of the broader societal challenges, circling back to his initial mention of Lil Durk: “How many people say free Lil Durk at Rolling Loud? Exactly.”
This call to action highlights a pathway for young men to build sustainable and rewarding careers, reflecting Ross’s broader commitment to supporting community upliftment through practical and actionable advice.
