Sean Kingston and His Mother Flee Reporters After Federal Arraignment on Fraud Charges

Sean Kingston and his mother, Janice Turner, hurried away from reporters on Friday (Aug. 23) after their federal arraignment on conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud charges.

Video footage captured the “Beautiful Girls” singer dressed in a shirt and black pants, running from the courthouse before jumping into a waiting black SUV. Turner followed behind, shouting at cameramen to stop filming, seemingly mocking their coverage of the legal situation.

Both Kingston, whose real name is Kisean Paul Anderson, and his mother pleaded not guilty and requested a jury trial. The discovery process is set to begin soon.

The two are accused of running an elaborate million-dollar fraud scheme, which led to a SWAT raid on Kingston’s Florida mansion in May and his subsequent arrest. At the time of the arrest, Kingston was performing at a show before being taken to a San Bernardino jail and later extradited to Florida.

Turner was also arrested during the raid and held on a $160,000 bond. Her arrest is partly connected to a lawsuit against Kingston from February, where he was accused of defrauding a company that installed a 232-inch TV in his home.

Previously, Sean Kingston had been on probation for trafficking stolen property. Now, Sean Kingston and his mother face new charges that allegedly netted them $1 million through fraudulent wire payments for vehicles, jewelry, and other goods, according to federal prosecutors in Florida.

This isn’t Turner’s first run-in with the law. In 2006, she pleaded guilty to bank fraud and served a year and a half in prison, according to Local 10 News in Florida.
