Shaq Signs Multi-Year Contract to Keep 'Inside The NBA' Team United

Shaquille O’Neal has signed a lucrative long-term contract to stay with “Inside The NBA,” securing a $15 million annual salary as part of a deal that keeps the show’s team intact at Turner Sports.

This agreement comes amid significant broadcast changes, with TNT losing the NBA’s media rights to NBC and Amazon.

Front Office Sports reports that the terms of O’Neal’s contract length were not disclosed. However, the deal is vital for maintaining the continuity of the popular program, which will continue to be produced by TNT from their Atlanta studios.

The switch in networks was facilitated by a trade-off, where ESPN acquired the rights to broadcast “Inside The NBA” in exchange for a package of Big 12 college football and basketball games.

Despite TNT’s exit from the NBA’s primary TV deal, the show will remain a staple of NBA coverage, albeit on a different network.

Charles Barkley, a key member of the show, reaffirmed his commitment to Turner Sports, explicitly rejecting offers from NBC and Amazon. “My heart is always and will be at Turner Sports,” Barkley stated, emphasizing his intent to remain with the show as it transitions to ESPN coverage.

Kenny “The Jet” Smith and Ernie Johnson Jr. are also expected to renew their contracts with TNT, calming fans’ concerns about the potential disbanding of the beloved hosting team.

“Inside The NBA” will adjust its broadcasting schedule under the new arrangement. Previously aired weekly, the show will now align with significant NBA events, including its first-ever appearance during the NBA Finals.

This strategic scheduling will place the show on ESPN and ABC during major events like the conference finals and the playoffs, enriching ESPN’s coverage with the renowned commentary team’s insights.

This transition marks a new chapter for “Inside The NBA,” promising to retain its influential presence in basketball culture while adapting to the evolving media landscape.
