“She’s a Messy Queen”: Cardi B Finally Spills on Her Next Album — and Fires Back at Joe Budden

After years of teasing, delays, and fan theories, Cardi B is finally opening up about her long-awaited sophomore album — and if there’s one thing she wants you to know, it’s that this one’s going to be messy.

In a chat with Billboard during the Revolve Festival, Cardi gave fans a small but juicy update about the new project. “I almost want to say the name because that’s what it’ll be about,” she teased. “I feel like my album is messy. She’s a messy queen.”

And no, she didn’t mean messy in a bad way. This album, she said, is going to be raw, emotional, and full of surprises. “It’s unexpected, but also expected,” Cardi explained. “It’s not really what’s out there right now. There’s stuff people expect from me—and a lot they don’t.”

Cardi B hinted that the album will reflect some of the real-life ups and downs she’s faced lately — especially when it comes to love and heartbreak. “I’ve been heartbroken… and then I’m loving again,” she said. “It’s gonna show all of that.”

But not everyone’s been patient.

Earlier this year, Cardi made headlines when she told fans on X (formerly Twitter) that she wasn’t dropping an album in 2024. “NO album this year, I don’t care,” she tweeted. “I’m relaxing this year. Dropping the features I already committed to and enjoying my summer.”

That didn’t sit well with some fans — or with former rapper and podcast host Joe Budden, who claimed she’s never dropping another full album again. “Cardi’s just a singles artist now,” he said. “We’ll never get another album. I’m standing on it.”

Cardi’s response? Not so chill.

“Bro, I gave you a lap dance twice at Starlets,” she fired back online. “You were high as f**k on coke. You always talk sh*t about me — and I don’t even know why. Every five or six months, you compare me to every female rapper, and still my worst records beat their best.”

She added, “You don’t want me to drop an album because you’re waiting to tear it apart. But it’s happening. The merch is in motion. The box sets are in motion. You don’t know sh*t.”

For fans who’ve been waiting since 2018’s Invasion of Privacy — which gave us hits like “Bodak Yellow” and “I Like It” — this latest update feels like a real sign that Cardi Season is (finally) coming.

And while the official release date is still under wraps, one thing’s clear: the new album won’t just be music. It’ll be a message. Unfiltered, unpredictable, and 100% Cardi.

So buckle up. The messy queen is coming — and she’s got something to say.
