NBA star Steph Curry is bringing the UNDERRATED Golf Tour back to the United Kingdom for its second edition, continuing his mission to expand golf’s reach and provide opportunities for young athletes from underrepresented backgrounds.
The tour, which showcases emerging junior golfers on a global stage, will make stops at Foxhills Country Club & Resort in England (May) and Fairmont St. Andrews in Scotland (August). These prestigious venues will give rising golf stars the chance to compete at historic courses, further cementing Curry’s commitment to diversifying the sport.
Steph Curry’s Mission: Making Golf More Inclusive
While Steph Curry is known for his NBA championships and MVP awards, his passion for growing the game of golf has become a significant part of his legacy. Through UNDERRATED Golf, which launched in the U.S. in 2023, he aims to make the sport more accessible to young people of color and challenge golf’s exclusivity.
“I’m thrilled to see the UNDERRATED Golf European Tour return for its second year and to partner with United Airlines as our presenting sponsor,” Curry said. “The goal of this tour is to offer incredible opportunities to emerging golfers, allowing them to compete and develop their skills in some of the most historic and beautiful locations in the world.”
Since its inception, UNDERRATED Golf has hosted 16 tournaments, including the prestigious Curry Cup, which serves as the ultimate test for junior golfers.
Path to the Curry Cup
As in the previous tour, the top boy and girl from each UK event will earn a chance to compete in the U.S. at the Curry Cup later this year, where the best young golfers will battle for the now-international championship.
“The Curry Cup is the ultimate goal for many of these golfers, and I’m excited to see how they’ll perform on the global stage,” Curry added. “This is about more than just winning—it’s about bringing fresh talent to the forefront, inspiring the next generation of golfers, and showcasing the diversity of the game.”
Curry’s UNDERRATED Golf Tour has gained support from professional athletes and European golf ambassadors, including Henni Koyack and former soccer star Gareth Bale, who are helping to scout and recruit young talent.
With United Airlines as the presenting sponsor, the tour’s return to the UK marks another step toward reshaping golf’s future, giving young golfers from diverse backgrounds the opportunity to compete, grow, and redefine the sport’s landscape.
