Stevie Wonder, Janelle Monáe, and Cynthia Erivo to Headline Special Quincy Jones Tribute at 67th Grammys

Stevie Wonder and Janelle Monáe are set to headline an illustrious tribute to Quincy Jones at the 67th Grammy Awards, celebrating the monumental legacy of the late music icon.

According to Rolling Stone, the tribute will take place on February 2, featuring performances by Cynthia Erivo, Herbie Hancock, Lainy Wilson, among others. This homage comes after Jones’s passing last November at the age of 91.

Quincy Jones’s influence spans over six decades, and the tribute is anticipated to be a standout moment on music’s most prestigious night. Raj Kapoor, the executive producer of the Grammys, expressed his admiration for Jones’s expansive career:

“The entire Grammys could have actually been Quincy Jones. The wealth of work, the wealth of genres, the amount of music that he has touched — he really is the dude.”

Kapoor revealed that numerous artists eagerly wanted to participate in the tribute, reflecting the deep respect and admiration within the music community for Jones.

“We’ve been working on creating something really special,” Kapoor said. “I think it’s going to be one of the definitive performances of the show, [showing] how much love we have for him as a music community.”

The Grammy ceremony will also include additional in-memoriam tributes and special performances themed around Los Angeles in response to the recent devastating wildfires.

Artists like Brad Paisley, Brittany Howard, Chris Martin, Jacob Collier, John Legend, Sheryl Crow, and St. Vincent will participate in these segments.

Kapoor highlighted the resilience of Los Angeles amidst the challenges: “Los Angeles has actually been quite incredible in the past few weeks. I think we have a stronger sense of community than we have had for a very long time.”

He added that the show would spotlight small businesses impacted by the fires and celebrate the city’s spirit.

The Grammys will air live from Los Angeles on February 2, from 8:00 PM to 11:30 PM PT on CBS, featuring a lineup that includes performances from notable artists such as Shakira, Billie Eilish, and others, ensuring a night of memorable tributes and powerful music.
