Tyrese Gibson Arrested Over $10K Monthly Child Support Dispute

Actor and singer Tyrese Gibson was arrested on Monday morning, September 9, over unpaid child support, according to reporter Dennis Byron. The arrest stemmed from a reported $73,000 owed in support payments for his 5-year-old daughter, whom he shares with his ex-wife, Samantha Lee.

However, just an hour after the news broke, Byron reported that Tyrese had “miraculously found the money” and was in the process of arranging for it to be paid. In a lighthearted comment, Byron joked, “He will likely be home for dinner.”

TMZ confirmed the arrest, noting that Tyrese had been ordered to pay $10,000 a month in child support, beginning in April 2023. His arrest came after being held in contempt of court for failing to meet the financial obligations.

Prior to his arrest, Tyrese posted a series of photos of his two daughters, Shayla and Soraya, on social media. In a heartfelt caption, he expressed his deep love for them, writing, “The love that a father can have for his children can’t quite be explained… Whatever the outcome is today… I am and will forever be their FATHER.”

Tyrese had previously hinted at his potential arrest, accusing Lee’s legal team — Adam Gleklen and William Alexander — of being closely connected with the presiding judge in his case, Judge Kevin M. Farmer. In a since-deleted post, the singer claimed that the legal team and the judge were “besties,” and suggested that they had influenced the proceedings.

The Fast & Furious star also indicated his frustration with Judge Farmer, whom he has tried to have removed from the bench twice. He alleged that the judge was involved in “collusion” during his divorce from Lee and vowed to appeal all rulings made in the case.

Despite the legal troubles, Tyrese’s focus remains on his children, as he continues to navigate the complex legal battles surrounding his family.
