Atlanta rapper Young Thug is facing new legal trouble after recently dealing with a RICO case. The entertainment company AEG (Anschutz Entertainment Group) is suing him, claiming he broke an agreement over a loan and the sale of his music catalog.
According to AllHipHop, AEG loaned $5.25 million to Young Thug’s label, YSL, in 2017. In return, AEG got exclusive rights to promote his live shows and expected to be paid back with interest, along with a share of concert profits. However, AEG says Young Thug and YSL failed to pay back the loan and didn’t tell the truth about their finances.
The situation worsened in 2021 when Young Thug sold his stake in over 400 songs for $16 million. AEG claims the money from the sale should have been shared with them because the music was collateral for the loan. Instead, AEG says they were left out of the deal and that Young Thug falsely told the buyers the songs were free of legal issues.
Now, AEG is demanding the original loan amount and any earnings connected to the sale of the music catalog. They are also considering adding other people or companies to the lawsuit in the coming months to recover what they believe they are owed.
It is also considering possibly including other parties in the lawsuit in the next six months or exploring other means of recovering the collateral attached to Young Thug’s music catalog.
This lawsuit is the latest challenge for Young Thug as he continues to handle legal and financial problems while pursuing his music career.
