Young Thug Urges Law Students to Pursue Careers in Defense

Fresh out of prison following the YSL RICO case, Atlanta recording artist Young Thug shared his insights with law students at Emory Law School, thanks to his attorney, Brian Steel.
During a recent session, Steel connected with the students via FaceTime, allowing Young Thug to offer advice directly. He urged the aspiring lawyers to consider a career in defense law, emphasizing the importance of helping individuals facing challenges similar to his own, rather than pursuing roles within district attorney’s offices.
A video clip of the interaction, which began circulating on November 6, captured Steel holding up his phone as the rapper addressed the students.
“We had a situation that was daunting towards my life, and I think that the justice system could be very bad,” Young Thug explained. “Sometimes it could be unjust.
You have to see it as they’re there to put us in prison, and you guys are here to keep us from prison. Brian Steel is the best person possible. He’s very pedagogical and should be a professor.”
Young Thug continued, making a compelling case for his audience. “I think you guys should become lawyers. It’s very important to help people out of difficult situations as best you can.
What side do you want to be on? Do you want to put people in prison for mistakes? Everyone makes mistakes; we’re human. You always need to remember that you’re one mistake away,” he advised.
In closing, the rapper expressed gratitude to Steel for his support during his legal struggles and highlighted the significant role that attorneys and doctors play in society.
“They do ‘God’s work’ for the people,” he said, acknowledging the profound impact that legal professionals can have on individuals’ lives.
