Zendaya is adding another major role to her already impressive résumé, joining the cast of DreamWorks’ Shrek 5. The highly anticipated sequel is set to hit theaters on December 23, 2026, marking the franchise’s first mainline installment since Shrek Forever After in 2010.
A new teaser trailer introduces Zendaya as a brand-new character, playing Shrek’s daughter. The 26-second clip features Mike Myers’ Shrek and Eddie Murphy’s Donkey staring into a magic mirror, playfully debating who is the fairest of them all.
The scene incorporates memes and familiar characters, including Fiona (Cameron Diaz), Pinocchio (Cody Cameron), and Zendaya’s new role.
The film will be directed by Walt Dohrn and Conrad Vernon, both veterans of the Shrek franchise, alongside Brad Ableson, who co-directed Minions: The Rise of Gru.
