Cardi B is facing legal heat after a fan filed a lawsuit over the infamous microphone-throwing incident that took place during her performance at Drai’s Beachclub in Las Vegas last year.
According to TMZ, the unnamed woman is suing the Grammy-winning rapper for assault and battery, claiming she was struck by a microphone Cardi hurled into the crowd. The moment was caught on video and widely shared online, showing the woman tossing a drink at the rapper moments before Cardi retaliated by throwing the mic.
The fan has insisted she was merely splashing water to cool off the artist, a gesture she says was common among other attendees. While rumors initially claimed the cup contained alcohol and ice, video footage appears to show only water. Notably, the woman had previously signaled plans to sue shortly after the July 2023 incident, but police declined to press charges at the time. The matter is now officially before the courts.
Despite the legal flare-up, the moment turned into a charitable opportunity for some. The microphone — which belonged to a local audio company, The Wave — was auctioned off on eBay, raising nearly $100,000 for the Wounded Warrior Project and Friendship Circle Las Vegas.
Meanwhile, Cardi B is pressing on with the rollout for her long-awaited sophomore album, Am I The Drama? Her latest single, “Outside,” debuted at No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it her 13th top 10 entry and continuing a streak of chart-topping success.
“Outside” follows her 2024 hit “Enough (Miami),” which became the first song by a female rapper to debut at No. 1 that year. Both songs will feature on Am I The Drama?, along with fan-favorites “WAP” featuring Megan Thee Stallion and 2021’s “Up.” The 21-track project is already eligible for RIAA Platinum certification ahead of its official release.
