Diddy Combs and Son Settle Legal Fee Dispute with Summa LLP

In a quiet but important legal update, music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs and his son, Christian “King” Combs, have settled with the Los Angeles law firm Summa LLP over a disagreement about unpaid legal fees, according to court records.
The firm had sued the father and son in California state court, claiming they owed at least $53,688.35 for over 100 hours of attorney work and around 90 hours of paralegal services provided since March 2025.
While the exact details of the settlement remain confidential, the agreement allows Summa LLP to drop its lawsuit. This ends what had become an unusual public dispute between a high-profile client and its former legal counsel.
Fees Connected to Civil Defense Work
According to reports, much of the disputed billing was related to Summa LLP’s defense of Christian Combs in a separate sexual assault civil lawsuit filed by Grace O’Marcaigh. In her complaint, O’Marcaigh claimed that Combs tried to force her into an unwanted sexual act while she was working on a yacht in late 2022.
She also accused Diddy of creating a “lawless atmosphere” during the trip. Both men deny the allegations, and the status of that case is still active and debated.
A spokesperson for Summa LLP, attorney Alejandro Barrientos, confirmed that the fee dispute has been resolved but did not share more details about the settlement or any future financial obligations.
Broader Legal Issues Remain
The settlement is a procedural win by resolving the billing dispute, but it does not lessen the broader legal challenges still facing the Combs family. Diddy is currently serving a lengthy federal prison sentence related to convictions concerning transportation for prostitution.
He was found not guilty of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking charges but still faces significant prison time.
In a letter filed earlier in the case, Diddy disputed parts of O’Marcaigh’s claims, stating that the complaint “incorrectly alleges that I chartered the yacht where the alleged assault occurred… I am neither the signatory nor a party to the… Charter Agreement.”
The legal fee case had attracted unusual public attention not just because it involved one of the world’s most famous entertainers and his heir, but also because the dispute unfolded alongside ongoing civil litigation and social media comments from industry peers.
Public and Social Media Reaction
This situation also tapped into public discussions around the family’s other legal troubles. For instance, rapper 50 Cent mockingly questioned Christian Combs on Instagram about the yacht lawsuit, saying: “Come on Christian you can do better than that man… how is your case going, the one when you drug shorty on the boat?”
This highlighted how celebrity rivalries have increased perceptions of the Combs family’s legal issues, even as this financial dispute concludes.
With the settlement finalized, legal experts say the focus will shift to the ongoing civil cases and any new developments in the Combs family’s broader legal situation. Even though this dispute has reached a resolution, the frequent legal presence of the Combs name in court suggests that more headlines may be coming.
