It was a calm Sunday broadcast until it wasn’t. In a Fox News interview that aired on June 15, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a statement that left many viewers stunned: “Iran tried to assassinate President Trump twice. He is enemy number one for the regime.”

For some, it sounded like a typical hardline warning from a leader used to navigating tough rhetoric. But for others, the timing, tone, and implication of Netanyahu’s words raised serious questions. Was this a warning, a strategic narrative shift, or something more calculated?

The backdrop is crucial: Israel had just launched a wave of preemptive strikes on Iranian nuclear and military targets under Operation “Rising Lion.” The region was already simmering. In that climate, Netanyahu’s comment did more than inform, it signaled.

No, he didn’t directly order an assassination. But by suggesting Iran was already behind two failed attempts on Donald Trump’s life, Netanyahu planted a powerful seed: if anything were to happen to the former U.S. president, blame Iran.

The Politics of Preemptive Blame

This is not the first time world leaders have used media appearances to shape the public narrative before military or diplomatic moves. But this one felt different, because it touched on the potential targeting of a former American president and played out in real time on global television.

Was it a genuine security disclosure? Or a calculated move to rally Western support and soften the ground for more aggressive action?

According to analysts, it may have been both.

“Netanyahu’s comments appear designed to strengthen the case for Israel’s preemptive strikes,” one foreign policy expert told us. “It’s also a clear signal to Washington: we’re doing this for your safety too.”

Why It Matters

In diplomacy, language is everything. A single phrase can shift global narratives, or justify action that might otherwise seem extreme.

By placing Trump at the center of Iran’s alleged aggression, Netanyahu invoked U.S. emotion and loyalty at a time when international support is fracturing. It also reframes the Israeli strikes not just as defense of the homeland, but as defense of an ally.

For Iran, the accusation was immediately dismissed as psychological warfare. Iranian officials denied any assassination attempts and accused Israel of creating “fictional threats” to justify its own offensives.

Throughout 2023 and 2024, Usher’s acclaimed Las Vegas residency not only captivated audiences but also inadvertently stirred personal drama for actress Keke Palmer. The episode unfolded when Palmer joined Usher on her talk show, Baby, This Is Keke Palmer, to discuss the ripples caused by her appearance at his show.

During the episode, Palmer hinted at the tumult her visit caused in her personal life, stating, “We caused some ruckus in my relationship.” Usher, however, distanced himself from the blame.

“Whoa, hold on, did we cause some ruckus?” he questioned, emphasizing his role as an entertainer rather than a home wrecker. “Did I have anything to do with what was going on in your home? Did I send you that dress? I am not responsible for how people react to my performance,” Usher explained, highlighting the separation between his stage persona and personal life impacts.

The conversation turned to the broader issue of boundaries between an entertainer’s professional engagements and their private life. Usher reflected on his philosophy before performances, “I am not here to break up your home. I am here to entertain you, my love… We were having a great time!”

The controversy traces back to Palmer’s 2023 attendance at Usher’s My Way Vegas show, where her spirited participation and outfit choice caught media attention after Darius Jackson, Palmer’s ex-boyfriend and father of her child, criticized her attire on social media, causing a viral sensation.

In a move that seemed to reclaim the narrative, Usher later cast Palmer in his “Boyfriend” music video. When asked about his decision, Usher quipped, “When life feeds you lemons, you make lemonade.” He advised on handling public scrutiny, suggesting, “Live your life as an entertainer and understand the purpose of your creations are to service entertainment, then it’ll be okay.”

Palmer appreciated the wisdom Usher shared, stating it “will forever be cherished.” Their professional camaraderie was evident as Palmer later performed at the 2024 BET Awards during a tribute to Usher, alongside artists like Coco Jones, Teyana Taylor, and Victoria Monét, underscoring the enduring bond forged amidst the controversy.

U.S. Representative Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) issued a stark warning about President Donald Trump’s actions during his second term, accusing him of undermining the United States’ system of checks and balances. Speaking to MSNBC’s Alex Witt, Crockett characterized the President’s efforts as an attempt to “cleanse” the government.

“He said he’d be a dictator from Day 1,” Crockett remarked, reflecting on Trump’s ongoing presidential conduct that she believes threatens the foundational democratic principles of the country.

She cited “Project 2025” and other initiatives as examples of Trump’s aim to consolidate power akin to a monarchy, which she asserts is antithetical to the democratic republic structure of the U.S.

Crockett further criticized the targeting of Justice Department officials who, in her view, were merely fulfilling their duties, suggesting that these actions are part of a broader attempt by Trump to dismantle the established checks and balances essential for democratic governance.

In a broader critique, Crockett described Trump as a “thug in charge of the United States,” warning that his leadership style focused on division could fundamentally endanger the nation’s future. “If we don’t wake up, we may not have a United States,” she said.

The conversation also touched on Trump’s policy priorities listed on the White House website, which include making America safe and energy dominant again, draining the swamp, and restoring American values. Despite these goals, Crockett condemned the President’s recent controversial decisions regarding immigration, transgender rights, and global policy, among others.

Highlighting the paradox in American political sentiment, Crockett concluded, “The problem is that Americans thought it was OK to take a full-fledged criminal and make him the president of the United States, and then they want to act aghast when he does criminal things.”

This statement encapsulates her profound concern over the ethical and legal implications of Trump’s presidency on the integrity of American democratic institutions.

Tennis star Coco Gauff is helping students at historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) who play tennis. The United Negro College Fund (UNCF) announced the Coco Gauff Scholarship Program on February 4, thanks to Gauff’s donation of $100,000. This money will help students who play tennis at HBCUs.

Gauff said she made the donation to honor her family’s history with HBCUs, which have been important in shaping her family’s life. “My family has been connected to HBCUs for a long time,” Gauff explained.

“It means a lot to me to help UNCF support student-athletes in tennis. As a young Black athlete, I know it’s important to see people who look like me doing well in sports and school.”

My dad always wanted me to follow in his footsteps and play basketball. In all seriousness, I’m incredibly my grateful to get the opportunity to uplift women’s sports and I am super excited to join the @Unrivaledwbb family!
Gauff, who is only 20 years old and from Florida, has won big tennis titles like the 2023 U.S. Open and the 2024 French Open in women’s doubles. She is currently the third-best women’s tennis player in the world.

Maurice Jenkins Jr., a top official at UNCF, praised Gauff’s efforts. “Her donation shows her commitment to education and sports. It also encourages young athletes to follow their dreams,” he said.

Gauff also supports other sports. She recently got involved with a new basketball league called Unrivaled, supported by famous athletes and celebrities like Giannis Antetokounmpo, Michael Phelps, and actors Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis. Gauff said, “I love basketball, and it’s exciting to support a league that is changing the game.”

She also made a funny tweet about her dad wanting her to play basketball: “My dad always wanted me to play basketball. Haha sorry dad, but this is as close as it will get 🤣.” This shows how she supports sports in a fun way while helping others.

Stephen A. Smith, the outspoken ESPN pundit, recently expressed regret over his vote for Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election during an appearance on “Real Time with Bill Maher.” Smith candidly shared his frustration, admitting he felt like “a damn fool” for supporting Harris, who ultimately lost to Donald Trump.

Smith critiqued the process that led to Harris’s nomination, highlighting her early dropout from the 2020 Democratic primary before the Iowa caucuses. Her lack of success in the earlier campaign, he argued, made her a less favorable candidate in the eyes of many voters.

“Yes, I voted for her, a lot of people voted for her, but in the end, we end up feeling like damn fools, because we supported it, we fell for the okiedoke as they say,” Smith remarked.

In 2024, Harris was named the Democratic nominee without a traditional primary, a decision that baffled many, including Smith. “Kamala Harris, who didn’t resonate during the primaries in 2020, couldn’t even get to Iowa, suddenly is the Democratic nominee,” he said, questioning the party’s decision-making process.

During the interview, Smith did not shy away from comparing Harris’s campaign unfavorably with that of Trump, noting that despite Trump’s legal troubles and impeachment, he seemed to have a better grasp of voter concerns.

“Here’s the deal: the man was impeached twice, he was convicted on 34 felony counts, and the American people still said, ‘He’s closer to normal than what we see on the left,'” Smith explained. He interpreted the election results as a clear referendum on the Democratic Party’s direction and appeal, or lack thereof, to the average American voter.

Smith’s blunt commentary on the state of American politics has fueled speculation about his potential political aspirations. While he dismissed the idea of pursuing a career as a congressional figure or senator during a November appearance on “The View,” he did not completely rule out higher ambitions.

“But if you came to me and you told me I had a legitimate shot to win the presidency of the United States of America, I would definitely consider it,” he stated, leaving the door open for a possible future in politics.

The app, which is free to download and use, offers additional subscription tiers for enhanced monetization opportunities. “For people who value content and community, Fanbase is a next-generation social network that allows any user to earn money from day one,” states the company website.

Despite being available for years, Fanbase has recently surged in popularity, coinciding with the uncertain future of TikTok in the U.S. The Atlanta-based platform has climbed the App Store charts, reaching #6 in social media rankings and #16 in overall app store downloads, and has surpassed the 5 million mark in crowdfunding.

Celebrating this milestone, Hayes shared his excitement in a LinkedIn post and encouraged public participation not just as users but also as investors. According to Afrotech, for a minimum investment of $399, users can become shareholders in this Black-owned startup.

Hayes is ambitious about Fanbase’s potential, aiming to make it the next dominant player in the social media market. He emphasized the unique aspect of Fanbase being a Black-founded app created for a global audience, with both infrastructure and ownership being Black-owned.

In a discussion on the “Black Tech Green Money” podcast, Hayes explained his vision, saying, “Instead of being customers to our creations, we are turning our innovations into acquisitions. Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok will not always be at the top. No business lasts and dominates forever.”

With this innovative approach, Hayes is not only challenging existing social media giants but also reshaping how creators and users engage with social media platforms by turning them into stakeholders.
