The shocking divorce announcement from social media power couple Kristy Sarah and Desmond Scott has left millions of fans reeling. The pair, who built an empire sharing their seemingly picture-perfect life, filed for divorce on December 30, 2025, after 11 years of marriage.

As details emerge, here are five revelations about their relationship that many followers never knew.

1. They Just Finished Building Their Dream Home

The couple recently completed construction on their custom dream home in Houston, Texas, documenting the entire journey with their followers. The irony is painful: Kristy shared videos celebrating “Day 846” of their home build, posting excited updates about moving in just months before filing for divorce.

The house they poured their hearts into designing together will now become part of divorce proceedings. Fans noticed the cruel timing, with one commenting, “Wait I’m actually shocked and they literally just finished building a home a few months ago.”

2. Kristy Left a Successful IT Career to Build Their Brand

Before becoming a Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree, Kristy worked as an IT engineer after graduating from the University of Houston with a degree in Computer Information Systems. She left her stable career in 2020 to pursue content creation full-time alongside Desmond.

Her technical background helped her understand algorithms and video editing, which proved crucial to their success. This professional sacrifice to build “The Scotts” brand makes the divorce even more complicated, as she essentially bet her career on their partnership.

3. They Celebrated a Lavish 10-Year Anniversary Just Months Before the Split

In 2024, the couple threw an elaborate 10-year wedding anniversary celebration with a floral elegance theme at their Houston home. They told People magazine it was their chance to “redo our wedding as the adults that we are now, celebrating the life we’ve built and journey thus far.”

The celebration included professional photographers, a caricature artist, and elaborate garden-themed decor. Desmond posted a heartfelt tribute to Kristy, and they both spoke about how their teenage love had only grown stronger. The timing makes the alleged infidelity even more shocking to fans.

4. They Co-Own a Wedding Videography Business

Beyond social media, Kristy Sarah and Desmond co-own Meant To Be Films, a wedding videography and storytelling production company. The business focuses on capturing couples’ love stories, documenting “the love, the laughs, and joyful tears.”

The painful irony of owning a company dedicated to celebrating eternal love while their own marriage crumbles hasn’t been lost on observers. It’s unclear what will happen to the business following their divorce.

5. Kristy Strategically Rebranded Before Filing

Observant fans noticed warning signs months before the official announcement. Users on forums noted that Kristy changed their joint channel name to just her name and eventually stopped featuring Desmond in content.

Her last post featuring him was in early December 2025, weeks before filing for divorce. Additionally, she began elevating her personal brand, working with celebrity stylist Law Roach and attending high-profile fashion events alone. This strategic separation suggests the split may have been planned for some time, even as they continued posting couple content.

The divorce of Kristy Sarah and Desmond Scott serves as a reminder that social media often presents only a curated version of reality.

Their relationship, which seemed unshakeable to 16.8 million TikTok followers, was apparently struggling behind the scenes, proving that even the most “perfect” couples face private challenges their audiences never see.

Less than a year into Donald Trump tenure as the 47th President of the United States, his aggressive push against diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives is already reshaping how Black history is preserved, taught, and supported on a national scale.

One of the administration’s first moves was ordering a comprehensive review of federal museums, including the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture.

Officials criticized these institutions for being “out of control” and overly focused on “how horrible our country is,” citing their documentation of slavery and racial injustice.

The ripple effects have extended far beyond museum walls. Federal grant programs supporting Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) have been cut, and cultural centers on predominantly white campuses have been shuttered, leaving Black students — and others who depend on these spaces — without vital academic and emotional support.

A review by Axios found that multiple federal websites, from the Department of Defense to the National Park Service, quietly removed pages dedicated to Black historical figures and events, including educational materials on Medgar Evers and the Tuskegee Airmen.

While public outcry prompted the restoration of some pages, the erasures echoed historical attempts to suppress Black narratives following Reconstruction and the Civil Rights Movement.

“When datasets or historical materials disappear, it becomes harder to see and fix racial disparities,” said Maya Wiley, president and CEO of the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights. “The terms change. The strategy doesn’t.”

Despite these setbacks, civil rights advocates say the pushback is strengthening collective resolve. National Urban League president Marc H. Morial believes the attempted erasure has only underscored the urgency of protecting the historical record.

“The attempt to erase history has made all of us more cognizant of the need to tell it,” Morial said.

In a recent op-ed for The Guardian, former Georgia gubernatorial nominee Stacey Abrams and Onyx Impact founder and CEO Esosa Osa argued that safeguarding progress for Black Americans is a moral mandate, warning that “our nation’s future will not arrive on its own.

”They point to initiatives such as The 10 Steps campaign — a nationwide effort to strengthen democratic engagement — and Onyx Impact’s community empowerment programs as evidence of the collective power needed to confront misinformation and preserve truth.

“Together, we can preserve opportunity, honor truth, and strengthen our democracy for generations to come,” they wrote.

Comedian and actor Tracy Morgan is using his platform to make a tangible impact on American families struggling with food insecurity.

While promoting his upcoming Paramount+ sitcom Crutch, the Saturday Night Live and 30 Rock alum opened up about his latest philanthropic effort, one that fed nearly 20,000 households.

Morgan partnered with the Hackensack Meridian Health Foundation to donate more than $200,000 in support of families in need.

“I fed 19,000 families,” Morgan told People. “It’s fun to get the love and support, but it’s better when you give it back.”For Morgan, giving back isn’t just charity—it’s a lesson he hopes to pass on to his four children.

He says he wants them to value compassion above all else. “More than a great education, I just want [Maven] and her brothers to be empathic,” he said. The actor’s dedication to service is deeply personal.

In 2014, Morgan survived a devastating car crash that left him in critical condition and killed his friend James McNair.

The accident led to a confidential settlement with Walmart, reported at nearly $90 million. Since then, Morgan has frequently spoken about how the experience reshaped his priorities. His health has been in the spotlight again in recent months.

In March, he was escorted out of a New York Knicks game after falling ill on the court, later revealing he had suffered from food poisoning. Now focused on wellness, Morgan says he walks 2.5 miles a day, trains regularly with a personal trainer, and has switched from Ozempic to Mounjaro.

“I’m just trying to live good,” he said. “I’m not worried about how I’m going to die. I’m just trying to worry about how I live.”Family, he insists, is at the center of everything.

Morgan is a father to Gitried, 39; Malcolm, 38; Tracy Jr., 34; and Maven, 12.“I don’t care about nothing else in this world,” he added.

CHIKA’s long-anticipated return arrives with quiet force. Two years after releasing her ambitious 2023 debut Samson: The Album—a project featuring Stevie Wonder and Lin-Manuel Miranda, the Grammy-nominated artist has resurfaced with Wish You Were T(Here), an eight-track EP shaped by reflection, loss, and emotional clarity.

Where Samson expanded her world outward, Wish You Were T(Here) turns that world inward. CHIKA carries the full lyrical weight of the project herself, choosing introspection over marquee collaborations and grounding the EP in themes of grief, self-understanding, and transformation. It is a deliberate reset—one that broadens her artistry without chasing her earlier acclaim.

Speaking with VIBE, CHIKA described the EP as “a postcard” to fans after stepping away. She wanted the project to function as both update and catharsis. Working closely with producer Rahki—whom she had long admired—she embraced live instrumentation and a more expansive sound palette. Their collaboration, she says, clicked instantly.

The project is steeped in personal revelations, including CHIKA’s recent autism diagnosis. Her single “Stemming” wrestles with discovering she had been on the spectrum her entire life. “Everything started making sense,” she said. “I can stop looking at myself as a bad person and just adjust.”

The Turning Point

The EP also reflects her process of grieving the death of her father, a loss she threads through songs like “FLOAT.” She describes Wish You Were T(Here) as an exercise in nostalgia—an opportunity to revisit moments from the past decade when he was still present.

Tonally, the EP shifts midway through. Tracks like “Withdrawal” mark a turn toward deeper vulnerability, followed by the gentle transition into “Friend.” Songs on the project’s latter half are largely sung, not rapped—something CHIKA says signals emotional and artistic evolution. One track she’s particularly excited for fans to hear is “This Time,” which she calls a “beautiful” showcase of Rahki’s production.

Despite the heavy themes, CHIKA is in a healthier place. Understanding her neurodivergence, she says, has helped ease long-standing struggles with depression. “I’m doing a lot better,” she shared.

Wish You Were T(Here) stands as one of her most intimate works yet—an exploration of growth, grief, and the quiet recalibrations that shape adulthood. As for what’s next, CHIKA hints that another project is already in the works, along with visuals tied to the new EP. Whether or not she tours remains to be seen.

For now, Wish You Were T(Here) marks a confident re-entry for an artist reclaiming her voice—and discovering new dimensions of it along the way.

As the holiday season approaches, many of us think about giving back—not just to family and friends, but to our communities at large. Below are 10 Black-led nonprofits whose work is deeply meaningful right now.

From mental-health support for Black women, to mutual aid for Black trans people, to mentoring future Black engineers, these organizations are making real change. If you can, consider donating, volunteering, or spreading the word.

1. The Loveland Foundation

This nonprofit continues to lead the charge for Black women’s mental health by providing culturally competent therapy to those who need it. Their Therapy Fund has helped thousands of Black women and girls access affordable care, often up to 12 subsidized sessions, a lifeline for those who might otherwise go without treatment.

This holiday season, mental wellness in under-resourced communities matters more than ever.

2. The Okra Project

The holidays hit different when you’re celebrating with your people. Christmas in Black households isn’t just about the day itself—it’s about the traditions, the gatherings, the food that takes you back to childhood, and the culture that makes everything feel like home.

Whether you’re keeping it low-key or going all out, here’s how to make this Christmas one for the books.

1. Host a Proper Soul Food Feast

Forget the dry turkey. I’m talking about mac and cheese that’ll make you emotional, greens cooked down with ham hocks, cornbread dressing, candied yams with the marshmallows on top, and a honey-baked ham that’s glazed to perfection. Get auntie’s recipes out and spend that Christmas Eve in the kitchen.

The house smelling like heaven is half the experience. And if you’re feeling fancy, add some oxtails or jerk chicken to the spread. This is our culinary heritage on full display, and there’s no shame in going back for thirds.

2. Support Black-Owned Businesses for Gift Shopping

This Christmas, let’s keep our dollars circulating in the community. From bookstores to boutiques, skincare lines to jewelry designers, Black entrepreneurs are creating magic. Check out online directories, hit up local markets, or browse Instagram for Black-owned gift options.

That nephew who loves to read? Get him books from a Black-owned bookstore. Your sister who’s into wellness? Find a Black woman making natural hair products or handmade candles. It’s about more than gifts—it’s about building generational wealth in our communities.

3. Watch All the Black Christmas Classics

Make it a movie marathon situation. We’re talking “The Best Man Holiday” (tissues required), “This Christmas” with Loretta Devine holding it down, “Black Nativity” for that gospel music experience, and “Almost Christmas” for the family drama we all recognize.

Throw in some “The Preacher’s Wife” for good measure, because Denzel and Whitney are timeless. Pop some popcorn, get cozy under the blankets, and let these films remind you what the season is really about—family, forgiveness, and finding your way back home.

4. Attend a Gospel Christmas Concert

There’s nothing quite like gospel music during the holidays. Whether it’s your local church’s Christmas program or a big-name concert, the combination of those harmonies, the organ, and songs like “Go Tell It on the Mountain” and “Mary Did You Know” performed with soul will fill you with the true Christmas spirit.

Kirk Franklin’s Christmas album stays on repeat in my house. The energy, the praise breaks, the collective joy—it’s church and Christmas morning wrapped into one powerful experience.

5. Do a Kwanzaa Celebration (December 26-January 1)

Christmas doesn’t mean Kwanzaa gets forgotten. Light the kinara, reflect on the seven principles (Umoja, Kujichagulia, Ujima, Ujamaa, Nia, Kuumba, Imani), and center yourself in African heritage and community values. It’s about remembering where we come from and recommitting to uplifting each other.

Host a Kwanzaa gathering with your crew, discuss what each principle means in your life right now, share some African-inspired dishes, and let the kids learn about their roots. Both celebrations can coexist beautifully.

6. Organize a White Elephant Gift Exchange with a Twist

Take the traditional white elephant game and make it us. Set a theme—”Gifts from the corner store,” “Things that remind you of growing up Black,” or “Best finds from the beauty supply.” The chaos when someone steals that good bonnet or those premium edge control products? Unmatched. Add some spades or dominoes to the mix, turn on the Christmas R&B playlist, and you’ve got yourself a whole vibe. The laughter alone will be worth it.

7. Recreate Your Childhood Christmas Traditions

Remember when Christmas morning meant waking up at 5 AM, not being allowed to go downstairs until everybody was up, then finally rushing to see what Santa brought? Recreate those moments. Play the same albums your parents played—Stevie Wonder’s “Someday at Christmas,” The Temptations’ “Silent Night,” or Donny Hathaway’s entire Christmas collection.

Make your mama’s hot chocolate recipe. Put out the good china like y’all used to. Sometimes going back is the best way to move forward, especially when you’re creating new memories with your own family.

8. Give Back to Your Community

The holidays are about abundance, and when we have, we share. Volunteer at a food bank, donate toys to a children’s home, or organize a coat drive for folks who need warmth this winter. Black mutual aid networks are always looking for support.

You could also sponsor a family through your church or community organization, making sure another Black family has a Christmas to remember. Our ancestors survived because we took care of each other—let’s keep that tradition alive.

9. Have a Christmas Day Game Tournament

Spades. Dominoes. Bid whist. Uno with the house rules that would get you arrested in other households. Set up tables, create brackets, and let the competition begin. Winner gets bragging rights until next Christmas and maybe some actual prize money thrown in.

The trash talk, the dramatic plays, the accusations of cheating—it’s all part of the culture. Just make sure someone’s filming because the moments when Uncle gets caught reneging are pure gold.

10. Create a Christmas Playlist That Actually Slaps

Yes, we love the classics, but let’s also celebrate the range. Mix in some Mariah (she’s honorary, we claim her), add runs from the Clark Sisters, throw in some Luther Vandross crooning, get some contemporary gospel from Tasha Cobbs Leonard, and don’t sleep on the Christmas albums from John Legend, Mary J. Blige, or Fantasia.

Create different playlists for different moods, one for cooking, one for the family gathering, one for when it’s just you reflecting on the year. Music sets the tone for everything.

11. Host a Pajama Christmas Brunch

Christmas morning doesn’t have to be chaotic. Invite your closest friends over for a late-morning brunch, everyone stays in their pajamas, bonnets optional but encouraged. Serve chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits, mimosas with fresh-squeezed orange juice, and biscuits that would make your grandmother proud.

Exchange small gifts, share what you’re grateful for, and enjoy each other’s company before the day gets busy. It’s intimate, it’s cozy, and it’s exactly the kind of joy we deserve.

12. Document Everything

Take the pictures. Record the videos. Capture cousin Tay Tay doing the Cupid Shuffle in the living room, get a shot of the food table before everybody destroys it, film grandma telling that same story from 1967 that somehow gets funnier every year.

These moments matter. Our stories matter. Years from now, you’ll want to remember exactly how it felt when everybody was together, healthy, and happy. Plus, the content you’ll have for the ‘gram? Unbeatable.

13. Have the “Real Talk” Conversations

Christmas gatherings are one of the few times we’re all in the same place. Use that time wisely. Check in on your people—really check in. Ask your brother how he’s actually doing. Talk to your cousin about their dreams.

Listen to your elders’ stories while they’re still here to tell them. Have the conversations about family history, about where we come from, about what needs to be said. Some of the most important moments happen between the dinner and the dessert.

14. Create New Traditions That Honor Who You Are Now

Maybe you’re building a chosen family. Maybe you’re celebrating with your partner’s family for the first time. Maybe you’re creating Christmas for your own kids and want to do things differently. That’s beautiful. Start your own traditions that reflect who you are and what matters to you now.

Whether it’s a Christmas Eve candlelight dinner, an annual trip to see lights in your city, or a commitment to reading a specific book every Christmas, make it yours. Tradition isn’t just about the past; it’s about what we choose to carry forward.

15. Rest, Sis (and Bro)

Real talk: you don’t have to do everything. You don’t have to attend every gathering, cook every dish, or perform joy if you’re not feeling it. Sometimes the most revolutionary thing we can do is rest. If this Christmas season needs to be quiet for you, honor that. Light a candle, put on your favorite movie, order takeout, and just be.

We carry so much throughout the year, sometimes the best gift we can give ourselves is permission to simply exist without expectation. Your mental health and peace matter more than any tradition.
