Meet Brittany Washington, the Entrepreneur Empowering Plus-Size Women Through Journals and Coloring Books

Brittany Washington is the founder and CEO of My Beautiful Fluff, a body-positive lifestyle brand that helps plus-size women feel seen, celebrated, and confident. It was founded in 2015 in Rock Island, Illinois. The brand began as a personal search for representation and has evolved into a community-focused business offering apparel, accessories, journals, and coloring books. It also offers products that promote affirmation.

Washington’s journey began with a childhood nickname, “Fluffy.” What was once a private term turned into the foundation for a public movement. She created My Beautiful Fluff after repeatedly encountering a fashion and lifestyle industry that did not cater to women like her.

A pivotal moment occurred when she looked for shirts inspired by natural hair in her size. However, she only found many styles stopped at 3X or were designed for men. Another significant moment came during her wedding planning when she had to pick her dress from a catalog, as local stores did not carry samples in her size.

These experiences shaped her mission. “Self-love means loving yourself as you are today and embracing the beauty within,” Washington explains on the website. This message now sits at the heart of the brand.

From One Idea to a Body-Positive Lifestyle Brand

My Beautiful Fluff started with what Washington describes as “a credit card, a dream, and a lot of determination.” A decade later, the brand has become a nationally recognized Black-owned and certified disability-owned company, with a community of over 40,000 people on its platforms.

The brand now features plus-size graphic tees, handcrafted wooden earrings, tote bags, beauty accessories, affirmation-based products, journals, and coloring books. Its official site emphasizes body positivity, representation, styles that fit, and a focus on community.

A simple principle underlies the product expansion: plus-size women should not have to shrink themselves to be represented. Washington’s coloring books and journals serve as creative tools for self-acceptance, confidence, and reflection. My Beautiful Canvas is the brand’s body-positive coloring book. This canvas has broadened the company’s reach by being available online through major retailers like Walmart and Barnes & Noble.

Dream Out Loud and the Business of Healing

In 2026, Washington furthered her mission with Dream Out Loud: For Big Dreams and Bold Moves. This is a guided entrepreneurship journal aimed at women who want to think like CEOs, rebuild their confidence, and turn ideas into action.

The journal launched on May 28, 2026, Washington’s birthday, to distribute 500 copies to women ready to grow. It is designed for entrepreneurs, creatives, and women seeking to renew their confidence. Dream Out Loud includes guided prompts, affirmations, SMART goal planning, CEO mindset frameworks, vision mapping, and reflection exercises.

“For so long, I poured into everyone else while trying to hold onto my own dreams,” Washington says. She created the journal for women with “big dreams but no roadmap.”

This message gives the journal a deeper purpose. It is more than just a notebook; it represents Washington’s decade of trial, faith, strategy, and resilience transformed into a practical tool for women balancing family duties, self-doubt, health challenges, and ambition.

Community Events Keep the Brand Close to Its Audience

Washington has expanded My Beautiful Fluff beyond the online space. Over the past ten years, the brand has engaged with customers at more than 100 festivals, wellness expos, vendor markets, and women’s empowerment events.

In 2026, the company’s events continued to follow this hands-on approach. My Beautiful Fluff participated in the I AM SHE Expo in Romeoville, Illinois, on May 16, and is set to attend Shop Black Fest Chicago on July 11, 2026. At these events, Washington showcases her body-positive coloring books, affirmation products, and community-centered message to women discovering the brand for the first time.

This in-person presence matters. My Beautiful Fluff is not just selling products; it is creating spaces where plus-size women can feel reflected without apology.

Why Brittany Washington’s Work Matters

Washington’s entrepreneurship addresses a larger cultural need. For years, plus-size women have dealt with limited sizing, restrictive beauty standards, and a lack of representation in fashion, wellness, and lifestyle sectors. My Beautiful Fluff meets this need with products that affirm confidence begins now, not after transformation.

“Confidence, for me, looks like no longer seeing myself as a ‘before and after,’” Washington has said. This belief is woven throughout the brand’s designs, journals, and coloring books.

Her advice is straightforward: “Focus on fit, not size.” This simple statement challenges an industry that often sees size as a limit rather than a design responsibility.

As My Beautiful Fluff enters its second decade, Washington is building more than just a business. She is creating language, products, and community for women who have long been asked to accept less visibility than they deserve. Through journals, coloring books, events, and apparel, Brittany Washington is demonstrating that representation can be profitable, personal, and transformative.
