Williams thanked the college from the stage, framing the honor as a testament to faith, service, and the smiles he “sells for a living.”

Alongside the degree, Williams announced a partnership intended to place HBCU students on real film sets, part of a broader push by Miles to blend creative industries with technology across its curriculum, school officials said. “Integrating AI into every facet” of the institution is central to that vision, added Chuck Faush, the college’s chief innovation and growth officer.

“I serve a God that insists that my cup runneth over. And those smiles that I sell for a living, those have Miles right in the middle of it.”

It isn’t lost that Williams has planted himself and a business endeavor in Alabama after announcing that he is building a film studio in Anniston. He purchased some land on the former Fort McClellan military base and is working toward being a successful studio owner like Tyler Perry.

AL.com reported that the area where he purchased land is known to the local residents as Starships, which sits on more than 90 acres of land. The area also includes dozens of buildings.

“President Knight’s vision is to integrate AI into every facet of the institution, and this opportunity to partner with Katt Williams advances that vision,” Chuck Faush, Miles’ chief innovation and growth officer, said. “Specifically, aligning with his studio development and plan in Anniston creates career ladders and provides real-world learning for our student entrepreneurs.”

The collaboration dovetails with Williams’ plan to build a film studio in Anniston, Alabama, on a portion of the former Fort McClellan site known locally as “Starships,” a 90-plus-acre tract with dozens of buildings that he has moved to redevelop.

Fellow comedian Mark Curry celebrated the milestone in a social post from the event, applauding Williams’ achievement and ongoing work.

The lawsuit, filed in 2016 by Angelina Triplett-Hill, claimed that Williams assaulted her on a movie set in 2014. She said he hit her several times, causing her to fall and lose consciousness.

Triplett-Hill also said she was working as Williams’ personal assistant at the time of the alleged attack. In 2017, she was awarded $1.7 million because Williams did not show up in court to defend himself.

However, things have changed in Williams’ favor. His lawyer, Jeremiah Reynolds, convinced the judge to cancel the previous ruling, meaning the case will now go to trial. Reynolds argued there was no proof of the alleged injuries—no hospital or police reports. He also brought in Williams’ real personal assistant, further weakening Triplett-Hill’s claims.

Reynolds explained that Williams has always maintained his innocence. “Katt said he did nothing wrong and wouldn’t pay her a cent,” Reynolds said. “At the trial, we showed that the plaintiff wasn’t really his assistant and made up the story. She tried to appeal to the jury’s emotions, but the judge didn’t allow any of that irrelevant information.”

As Williams enjoys this legal victory, he’s also kept his humor sharp by poking fun at Sean “Diddy” Combs. Earlier this year, in his interview with Sharpe, Williams hinted at some of Diddy’s personal issues, which many believed referred to Diddy’s ongoing legal problems.

Williams continued the jokes in September, posting a clip from Bad Boys II on Instagram, where Martin Lawrence’s character jokes about still feeling pain after three days, seemingly mocking Diddy. During a recent comedy show,

Williams made more jokes about Diddy’s supposed stock of baby oil, saying, “Not 1,000 bottles of baby oil, Jesus! There’s not that much ash in the world. Diddy’s lawyer even said, ‘He probably got it from Costco.’ Costco quickly responded, ‘We don’t even sell baby oil.’”

With both his legal success and sharp comedy, Katt Williams seems unstoppable in 2024. Despite controversies, he’s winning in and out of the courtroom.

In a video clip from the event, Harvey told the audience not to waste time on “haters,” pointing out that critics are usually not as successful as the person they’re criticizing.

“You’ll never have a hater that’s doing better than you,” Harvey said. “Don’t stop what you’re doing just to argue with someone who isn’t going anywhere. Keep climbing, and don’t come down to talk to them.”

Harvey admitted that he sometimes feels like confronting his critics but chooses to rise above it. “Do I want to [respond]? Yes, because I’m human. And I’m from the streets. I used to be a fighter, and I can still throw hands. They’re slow, but if you get close enough, I can still knock you out,” he joked.

The Family Feud host added, “I may not be as fast as I used to be, but I can still pack a punch. I’d knock your short self out. I’d knock the perm right out of your hair.”

This isn’t the first time Harvey has touched on the subject. In January, he shared similar advice with his Family Feud audience. “You don’t need to prove anything to anyone. Just keep doing your thing,” he said, quoting a Bible verse from Psalms 23:5:

“‘He prepares a table in the presence of my enemies.’ I don’t need to talk to my haters—they can just turn on their TVs and see me there every day.”

Katt Williams caused a stir during his appearance on Club Shay Shay when he took shots at several fellow comedians, including Cedric The Entertainer, Michael Blackson, Kevin Hart, Tiffany Haddish, and Steve Harvey. He accused Harvey of stealing the idea for The Steve Harvey Show from Mark Curry’s sitcom Hangin’ With Mr. Cooper.

“The same Steve who watched Mark Curry do his show and then copied everything Mark Curry did… Now Steve has a sitcom where he’s the principal, and he wears a suit,” Williams said.

He also criticized Harvey’s acting, saying, “You couldn’t be a movie star. Out of 30,000 scripts in Hollywood each year, not one of them asks for a country guy who can’t talk well and looks like Mr. Potato Head.”

As the tension between the two comedians continues, it’s unclear if Harvey will respond directly to Williams’ claims. However, Harvey’s message of staying focused and avoiding negativity suggests he’s more interested in looking ahead than engaging in a public spat.

Wilson, best known for her roles as Andell Wilkerson in the television shows “Moesha” and “The Parkers,” tragically passed away in 2012 after fighting stage 4 cervical cancer and kidney disease.

In a recent Instagram Live video, Mo’Nique and her husband, Sidney Hicks, opened up about Williams’ compassionate gesture towards Wilson.

Mo’Nique recounted how Williams stepped in to assist Wilson during her time of need, providing crucial support and financial assistance when she needed it most.

Despite Wilson’s struggles with her health, she faced additional challenges in raising funds for her medical care.

A friend of Wilson’s, Jeffrey Pittle, initiated an online fundraiser on giveforward.com, aiming to collect $25,000 to aid with her expenses.

However, the fundraiser fell short, raising only 56% of the target amount.

The Heartfelt Support of Katt Williams

It was during this difficult period that Williams demonstrated his immense generosity and compassion.

Mo’Nique revealed that Williams contributed a substantial sum of $12,000 towards Wilson’s medical expenses, ensuring that she received the care and support she desperately needed.

Mo’Nique spoke highly of Williams’ character, emphasizing his selflessness and genuine concern for others in need.

Despite any negative perceptions that may have surrounded Williams in the past, Mo’Nique asserted that he is “one of the purest cats in this game,” highlighting his kindness and compassion towards his fellow artists and friends.

The touching story serves as a reminder of the importance of compassion and support within the entertainment industry and beyond.

Williams’ gesture towards Wilson exemplifies the power of kindness and solidarity in helping others during their most challenging moments.

Yvette Wilson’s legacy lives on through the memories of those who knew and loved her, and the generosity of individuals like Katt Williams serves as a testament to the impact of small acts of kindness in making a difference in the lives of others.

As Mo’Nique eloquently stated, “When Andell took ill, it was a man named Katt Williams who just stepped in and took care of that sister until she left this earth.

And for that, Williams’ kindness and compassion will be forever remembered and appreciated by those who were touched by his generosity.
