Keturah Orji, renowned for her significant achievements in track and field, listed several personal reasons for stepping away from the sport, including physical ailments, diminished passion for competition, and feelings of being undervalued.

Orji’s career has been marked by numerous accolades. After graduating from the University of Georgia, where she claimed eight NCAA titles between 2015 and 2018, Orji went on to win 10 U.S. national titles and represented the United States in three Olympics.

She set the American record in the triple jump three times and secured a silver medal at the 2019 Pan American Games in the long jump.

Despite her success, Keturah Orji revealed that the thought of retirement had been on her mind since 2022. She cited the book “Quit: The Power of Knowing When to Walk Away” as influential in solidifying her decision.

Keturah Orji emphasized that even hypothetical successes, like winning an Olympic medal, would not have swayed her decision due to the enduring personal reasons she outlined.

Orji’s departure from athletics marks the end of an illustrious career and begins a new chapter focused beyond the competitive realm, guided by deep personal reflection and future aspirations outside of sports.
