Music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs was recorded cautioning fellow artist Kanye West during a phone call from the Metropolitan Detention Center, where he remains in custody facing multiple charges, including racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation for prostitution. Combs has pleaded not guilty, and his trial is scheduled to begin on May 12.
A leaked recording of their conversation, obtained by The Shade Room, captures Combs urging West to exercise caution, telling him, “Tell you real from the front line. This s–t is wicked, wicked, wicked, so you be careful.
You can’t do nothing for just…I need you out there, you hear me?” West acknowledged the warning, responding, “Yeah, I hear you, yes sir.”
Diddy Expresses Frustration Over Incarceration
Throughout the call, Combs lamented his situation, stating, “This s–t is f—–g sad. I’m Puff Daddy in jail. This s–t is f—–g sad as a motherf—-r. The devil is a liar.” He vowed that when he regains his freedom, his focus will be solely on happiness.
Seeking inspiration while in custody, Combs asked West to play music over the phone, explaining that it would “give me some f—–g life.” The producer also expressed deep appreciation for West’s support, saying, “It’s like being left for dead. And only one person coming to do anything to get you. That’s the level of appreciation that I have for you.”
Combs also thanked West for looking after his children, claiming that no one else had reached out to check on them since his incarceration. West responded warmly, “I love you so much. It’s like you raised me even when I didn’t know you.”
During the call, Combs urged West to stay focused on his music and find joy in his work. “We not having no fun—get behind the mic, have some fun. Chop up them samples, get back on your hit man vibe. Have some fun, get back to smiling.”
West appeared to take the encouragement to heart, responding, “Yeah, it’s time for me just to grab the mic and get back on. I love, I love music again.”
Kim Kardashian Reportedly Concerned Over Kanye’s New Music
The timing of the call remains unclear, but it comes as Kanye West faces backlash for referencing both Diddy and his daughter, North West, in his new song, Lonely Roads Still Go to Sunshine. Reports indicate that Kim Kardashian, the mother of North, is unhappy about the track and is considering legal action to prevent its release.
Representatives for Combs, West, and Kardashian have yet to publicly comment on the matter.
