Zendaya floated up the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s famous steps in a crisp, all-white Louis Vuitton suit, looking effortlessly cool yet deeply elegant. Her menswear-inspired look, topped with a classic white fedora and a sleek bun, was a nod to this year’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.

But while her tailored look had the cameras flashing, it was a small, sparkling detail that had everyone talking: her engagement ring.

Peeking out as she moved was the dazzling diamond given to her by longtime love Tom Holland. The couple, who first met as teenagers on the set of Spider-Man: Homecoming, confirmed their engagement earlier this year, and Zendaya first showed off the ring quietly at the Golden Globes in January.

Their love story feels refreshingly old-fashioned in the best way. In a rare glimpse into the couple’s private life, Tom’s father, Dominic Holland, shared on Patreon how carefully Tom planned the proposal.

He spoke with Zendaya’s father first, got his blessing, and even rehearsed the moment, right down to what he would say. “Tom had everything planned out,” Dominic said, beaming with pride. Despite knowing how tough fame can be on relationships, he added, “I’m completely confident they’ll make a successful union.”

Fans have also noticed other sweet, subtle signs of Zendaya’s devotion, like the delicate “t” tattoo spotted near her ribcage during awards season.

As for a wedding? Don’t expect it anytime soon. Zendaya’s stylist and close friend Law Roach recently told E! News that the two are focused on their booming careers for now. “It’s far away,” Roach shared. “They’re both filming a lot this year and next year is packed with premieres. So, more red carpets first — wedding bells later.”
