Global music icon and entrepreneur Rihanna has officially confirmed she is expecting her third child, making the announcement while attending the 2025 Met Gala in New York City.
The 37-year-old singer, whose real name is Robyn Fenty, cradled her baby bump and smiled for cameras as she made her grand entrance on the red carpet — this year a striking navy blue adorned with daffodils. Rihanna, dressed in a wide-brimmed hat and a floor-length tailored ensemble, was the last celebrity to arrive at the star-studded event.
Her partner, rapper A$AP Rocky (real name Rakim Mayers), who served as a co-chair for the evening, confirmed the pregnancy news while speaking to reporters. “It is time to just show the people what we were cooking up,” he said, adding, “I’m glad everybody’s happy for us because we’re definitely happy.”
The couple already shares two sons: RZA, born in May 2022, and Riot, born in August 2023.
The Met Gala, an annual benefit for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, is renowned for its extravagant fashion displays centered around a specific theme. This year’s theme, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, marked a historic return to a menswear-focused exhibition, the first since 2003.
Rihanna has developed a reputation for high-profile pregnancy reveals. She famously announced her first pregnancy with a Harlem photoshoot alongside A$AP Rocky in 2022. The following year, she revealed her second pregnancy during her performance at the Super Bowl halftime show.
Her latest announcement follows a growing Met Gala tradition: last year, tennis legend Serena Williams and model Karlie Kloss both debuted their baby bumps at the event.
Speculation about Rihanna’s third pregnancy had been mounting after she was spotted entering the Carlyle Hotel — a frequent pre-Gala stop for celebrities — dressed in a pale blue outfit that strategically obscured her midriff.
