Wendy Williams Suggests Son’s Actions Led to Her Financial Guardianship

Wendy Williams has revealed that her son, Kevin Hunter Jr., may have played a role in her financial guardianship. Ahead of a planned reunion with her family for her father’s 94th birthday, Wendy Williams is also set to see her 24-year-old son—whom she claims “took advantage of her financially and triggered her guardianship,” according to TMZ.
The former talk show host opens up about the handling of her finances in the new documentary, TMZ Presents: Saving Wendy. Her guardianship was put in place after Wells Fargo flagged unusual withdrawals from her accounts. Williams believes her son and others were behind the transactions, though Kevin Jr. has denied any wrongdoing.
Court Documents and Allegations
According to court records obtained by TMZ last September, the court questioned Kevin Jr.’s ability to protect his mother’s finances.
“While [her son] Mr. Hunter apologized for past mistakes and inappropriate behavior, the court is not convinced that he can keep her safe and wouldn’t willingly or unwittingly expose her to financial exploitation,” the documents stated.
In an interview with TMZ’s Harvey Levin, Williams accused her son of misusing her money without informing her.
“My son, he overstepped his boundaries in terms of me,” she said. “He overstepped his boundaries and was inappropriately using my money without telling me crap about it.”
Wendy Williams added, “Like, is he stealing from me? Look, all I know is that, in terms of what I’m dealing with, this is still going on, because that’s when my money got frozen at Wells Fargo, thank God. No more money stealing from my son and the other people.”
Conflicted Feelings About Her Son
Despite her accusations, Williams maintains that her son has a good heart but has been negatively influenced by others.
“My son is a really good person. Look, my son is a good person. But at this point, he is a horrible person to me,” she said. “The way he moves with other people, and what’s going on with these other people in my apartment in Miami.
‘What are you doing? Oh, you spent on what? What is going on at Wells Fargo?’ It’s about my money. It’s about holding my money and using it for other people and nothing for me.”
The documentary also provides insight into Williams’ current life in an assisted living facility, an experience she compared to prison.
“I want my life back. I want my freedom back,” she shared.
Despite their strained relationship, Williams expressed that she is looking forward to seeing her son during their upcoming reunion. She also addressed the situation in an appearance on 2 Angry Men, a podcast hosted by Levin and Mark Geragos.
