Producers Eye Kim Kardashian for Lead Role in ‘The Bodyguard’ Remake

In a casting twist no one saw coming, Kim Kardashian is reportedly being considered for the lead role in the upcoming remake of The Bodyguard, a role originally made iconic by Whitney Houston in the 1992 classic.
According to a Daily Mail report, Warner Bros. is seriously considering the reality star-turned-entrepreneur for the part, with the film’s script allegedly “written with Kim in mind.”
The remake is set to be directed by Sam Wrench, known for helming Taylor Swift’s 2023 Eras Tour film — a connection that initially had fans speculating Swift might land the role.
“Everyone immediately assumed Taylor would get the lead… but Warner Bros. is very keen on Kim,” a source revealed.
Unlike the original, which was heavily music-driven and featured Whitney Houston’s chart-topping hit “I Will Always Love You,” this new version may take a different route. Sources claim the studio is considering a straight drama instead of a musical, making a singing background nonessential for the lead.
“Let’s face it, how can you top Whitney?” a source said, suggesting the creative team may be seeking a fresh take rather than a direct replication of the original’s musical legacy.
If the rumors prove true, this would mark Kardashian’s first starring film role. Though she’s dabbled in acting — including a cameo in Ocean’s 8 and a recent appearance in American Horror Story — this would represent a significant leap in her ambitions to transition from reality TV to the silver screen.
Insiders say Kardashian is “thrilled about the possibility”, and has reportedly expressed strong interest in taking acting more seriously in recent years.
The potential casting has stirred passionate debates across social media. Some fans have floated Taylor Swift as the ideal choice due to her vocal prowess and existing relationship with director Sam Wrench. Others argue that Kardashian’s global celebrity aligns with the idea of a modern, paparazzi-hounded star needing protection — a contemporary echo of the original premise.
“Let the battle of the divas commence,” one insider joked.
While Taylor Swift’s name remains a popular fan pick, it appears she has not officially expressed interest in the project. Still, a Warner Bros. source insists Kardashian has been “attached to the project from the beginning.”
There’s no official confirmation from Warner Bros. yet, and the project remains in early stages. But if the buzz is anything to go by, the Bodyguard remake is already shaping up to be one of the most talked-about casting decisions in recent memory.
