Michael B. Jordan’s Name Surfaces During Diddy’s Jury Selection Process

Jury selection began Monday (May 5) in the criminal trial of music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, who faces charges of sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, and related offenses.

Prospective jurors were questioned extensively about their knowledge of various celebrities who may come up during the proceedings. Among those named were Kanye West, Yung Miami, Kid Cudi, Mike Myers, and Michael B. Jordan though multiple jurors noted they had no personal connections to any of them.

While actor Michael B. Jordan is not expected to testify, his name surfaced because of his past relationship with singer Cassie Ventura. As reported by Rolling Stone, Ventura referenced a 2015 romance with Jordan in her 2023 lawsuit against Diddy.

During a period when Ventura and Combs were separated, she “began a flirtatious relationship with an actor,” later revealed to be Jordan. According to the lawsuit, Combs allegedly reacted by calling Jordan directly and issuing threats.

The document states, “The actor proceeded to call Ms. Ventura and tell her, ‘you really need to call [Mr. Combs].’” Ventura is expected to testify during the trial.

In addition to celebrity references, potential jurors completed a detailed questionnaire probing their familiarity with the case, media habits, experiences with trauma, and views on topics such as Hip-Hop culture and economic inequality in the justice system.

Questions included whether jurors believed wealthy individuals are treated more leniently than the less wealthy.

According to Rolling Stone, Diddy appeared “a little nervous” but stayed “attentive throughout the selection process,” consulting with his legal team on which jurors he favored or opposed.

Jury selection is expected to conclude within three days, with opening statements scheduled for May 12. If convicted on the five felony counts, Combs faces a sentence ranging from 15 years to life in prison.
